I’m with you Steve. Not a fan of the outer ring, although the metal bezels aren’t too bad.
Imho, the outer ring, the new symmetrical lugs, and the new case shape were all downgrades. I appreciate my 11 more and more each day. Glad folks are enjoying their 12s. All good. There’s a Daytona for all of us. |

When I see the 126500’s metal ring, this metal ring comes to mind…..

Personally like the new metal ring at the bezel. Seems to give it a more polished, classy look

I can’t help but notice a clear bias in these 116 vs 126 discussions, and it’s becoming increasingly obvious

I think it was to give it a retro look. An homage to a 197O’s Timex Chrono.

It is clear biases exist but they can go in many directions: 1) Prefer the 116500 because they own one 2) Prefer the 126500 because they own one 3) Prefer the 126500 because they don’t own either and only the 126500 is available at retail 4) Prefer the 116500 because they paid grey market pricing and want to “cheer” for value retention 5) Prefer the 126500 because they paid grey market pricing and want to justify the premium over the 116500 / cheer for value retention 6) Prefer the 126500 as the newest shiny thing is always preferred 7) Prefer the 116500 as prior versions are always more “pure” Then there are those who make assumptions across the biases… one thing I will say is that for most owners of either the 116 or 126, they likely do prefer what they have - or they’d trade into or buy the other watch … as the cost for most is completely immaterial to “trade plus/minus cash” from one to another. We are talking a few thousand dollars when talking apples to apples (unworn vs unworn) and considering the bid/ask spread. Personally I think the new SS surround provides good contrast for the black dial watch in some photos. In person and when well-photographed, the new 126 in both dials looks bulkier and busier with the thin subdials and that SS surround. Not nearly as aesthetically pleasing to me. |
