Sorry guys...the right term is Symbolic interactionism and not symbolism.
Two total different things.
My fault...

So, I had a closer look at The Tudor internet site.
There are many great watches.
Unfortunately, I did not find the ones I like the most with a date option.
Since I have a hard time remembering the exact day of the date, I would only invest a certain amount, in a watch with a date.
I already started playing with the thought of doing some flipping

The founder of Rolex thought Tudor a good idea. I agree. Nuff said from Rebel.

Hello Laszlo

I planed to go to the AD this saturday.
As for now, I think it will be my second watch

Got a few other projects but I put it on the waiting list.

Which means, that all of sudden, I'm the guy dreaming of a Tudor ;-)

Hi Pascal.

Tudor is a really great brand and it will help you form a better mental model seeing and handling them in person. For some reason, at least IMHO, they don't photograph well or come across well online. The quality and details really shine when seen in the flesh and on the wrist. And if you're looking for a second or third watch that is not up-market from Rolex, then IMO the Tudor watches blow everything else out of the water... so-to-speak.

I just got my Black Bay S&G in yesterday. Absolutely in love!
I want to post some pictures on here, but now that photobucket is down I'm not sure which image site works best on the forum?

Fantastic - congrats. I love my BB S&G - its the brushed gold that makes it such a classy act. I read that the capped gold can take in excess of 20 polishes until it starts to wear down.

Big fan of Tudor myself & think the Mothership ( Rolex ), has made no effort to be associated with the new generation of Tudor models available. I think 99% of people don't even know of the Rolex/Tudor association or care . Which is quite a clever marketing ploy in itself ( helps people stop thinking its a pretend Rolex ), and I think the newer Tudor models are aimed more at Omega , TAG ,Brietling, etc buyers . For me Tudor are good honest amazing value for money watches, & I'm already looking forward to what's going to be offered at Basel 18, & hopefully including a GMT offering of some sort .

I don’t think you can make a reference here. It’s a completely different industry. Lexus and Mercedes make luxury sport cars; Rolex and Tudor both make high end watches. Tudor doesn’t really make an average watch.

yes agreed!
Very cool.
And I think the quality is definitely above a new Omega or Breitling for example

It is a cool watch!
and I agree the brushed gold is such a nice touch and keeps it from being so fussy

I went down the Rolex route more for brand. I said at one point there was nothing in the Rolex line that really appealed. However I got an affinity for the Datejust. In person it didn’t work for me, too bling. I settled on the Air King, an older one. Loved it for a year, moved to another hobby and kept off the forums.

The watch bug started up recently and I started purchasing again. First cheap then four figures. Lost all interest in the Rolex. After the brand hype and ‘omg it’s a Rolex’ dies it’s just a Watch. It turned from wow to a chunk of cash sitting idle. I am in the process of selling it.

I guess I’m not a Rolex guy. I have no debt, savings, I turn up dressed casual, probably on my bicycle, if it’s the car my Watch costs more because cars are a utility to me and not something a care about at all. I’ll save the environmentalist speel. :)

Maybe Tudor being the underdog of sorts is my Watch. As someone mentioned earlier the TAG Heuer guy may buy a Tudor. I’m a new TAG guy by accident and I love it. Shoot me.

I will have a Tudor soon. :)

They do sort of look the same but when you pay attention to details you notice that Rolex is 10x more defined.

I like the Tudor BB in leather or nato strap more than bracelet. What do you guys think?

Yes, I really like this. Wonderful combination/colors

I've been tinkering with the idea of getting a Tudor for more than a year now. Maybe it's finally time to hit the button. Tried on a few already, and they feel really comfortable on the wrist and really breath quality. A star in my book any day of the week (esp. in that price category).

Cheers,
Joe

10x more defined?? I went from 4 Rolex watches prior, including a DateJust, and I can tell you this is certainly in the same ballpark of refinement as a DateJust. In fact, it's essentially a 1600 lug-hole case with a 17000 dial. Sure, it's got an ETA, but the caseback is also nice and flat, it runs within +2/-2, and it has a day complication. I'd planned on getting another DateJust, but I got this instead.

To me, Tudor is now essentially the Rolex of old, before Rolex was 6-digit bling jewelry afraid of bezel scratches.

p.s. cool, I made it to 3000 posts!

Great shot. What a watch!
Anyway love Tudor and would not mind owning one in the future.
Day date is great example of well designed watch you can get without breaking the bank.

Eta movement can be serviced anywhere by competent watchmaker.

Hey, thanks. To be honest, I could probably convince myself to swing a Rolex DayDate, financially, since I would get a lot of use out of it, but I just have no interest in precious metals. My watch probably doesn't even break 90g on the scale, which I love. I even wear a steel wedding ring!
