Hi there, I just bought a u series Sea Dweller. Dates back to around the mid 90's. Can anyone tell me if the engraving on the back of the watch should be black, like I've seen with most, or no paint and just the steel like mine has?
I've looked all over the web for this answer so this is my last hope!! Tom |

There's no sign of any paint. I guess that means that this piece has seen alot of wear from what people are saying?

Very informative thread, thanks guys. I just picked up my first SD, a Z serial. I really wanted one when I bought my 5513 Sub 7-8 yrs ago but couldn't afford it. My 5513 increased in value and I was able to trade it in for the SD without too much extra cash. Loving it so far (only a few hours), it's quite a bit bigger.

I though about trading mine in on a 2-tone Daytona a few years ago. But at the last second decided against it. I'm glad I did! I just bought a couple NATO straps and it looks cool as hell!

Seadweller is truly a classic in every sense and in all its guises. Very hard to go wrong provided you pick up one that has been looked after etc. Still plenty of good 16600s about representing very good value for money.

Curious to know about the variations in the dial, and how (and why) the red text came about on the 1665 DRSD?
