Is there any way to determine if my Explorer II 16570 with a D serial has a 3186 or 3187 movement without opening the case?

3187 is only in the 42mm case.

Thank you and my apologies for the double post. I tried to delete it twice with no luck.

Not necessarily - I have seen Z serials with the engraved rehaut and 3185 movement, although it's fair to say that the last of the 16570s will have both the engraved rehaut and 3186

I have owned an explorer ii for about 5 years and I am very happy with it. It still oops great even though its showing its age and I am a proud rolex owner.

Current thinking is to not do any cosmetic embellishments to vintage watches. Service the movement, but no polishing or changing out parts such as hands and dials because that will diminish the value. Refinished dials are a definite no-no.

16570 Explorer II Y-Generation Functions?
So pulled out to position one, allows you to wind, position 2, allows you to adjust the main hour hand, position three, adjust the hour and minutes. Is there a way to adjust the date only? Thanks again. |

The new Explorer 42mm is a beautiful watch and superbly engineered, though the larger case is still a problem for some people, particularly if they were use to the smaller version. Its surprising the difference that the extra 2mm makes. Both can be picked up at great prices though and represent good value for money.

I had the dial on my Explorer II repainted black. The one detail I think they got
wrong is the second hand; it's white, rather thank silver(ish). I took it to an official Rolex dealer and (after "checking it out") said it was worth about £3000. They wouldn't accept it in px for a brand new model because of its age (20 years old). I don't wear it much and much prefer the Explorer 1, (which I should have originally bought). |

Does anyone know of, or own, a 1655 with a serial number lower than 2,770,3XX?
