Keep in mind it will only retain its value if it is unworn/mint, and that if you try to sell it a lot of your price 'gains' will be lost crossing the bid/ask.
Thank you!!

Great watch at 22, enjoy - nobody really knows which models today will be the desirable ones in 10 years as fashion changes.

Just wear and enjoy, its a Rolex and they always seem to retain value better than other brands anyway.

Congrats on your investment.

The common course is for you now to contact your AD aggressively and tell him/her that you need a Cermit, Pepsi/Batman and of course a Daytona. They look amazing on Instagram!

Enjoy!

Outstanding watch in my opinion. I believe this would be my next selection to wait for. Why not post a pic of this beauty on your wrist?

Congratulations on getting your first Rolex, its a great watch.

No watch is a good investment as no one knows what is going to happen to the market next week, next month, next year and so on. At present the market for luxury watches is buoyant especially Rolex watches which are retaining and in a lot of cases increasing in value.

But this is what is happening today, how long will this buoyant market last no one knows.

Buy your watches to wear and enjoy, do not worry or fret about values as it will stop you enjoying that great timepiece which will last you a lifetime.

Oh, and you will scratch it, don't worry about that either, it hurts seeing the first one but if you wear a watch it will get scratched.

OP you will take a TON of heat on this thread. We do not view our watches as investments. We are a group of enthusiasts and get these investment questions all the time. We find it tiring. A Rolex is a great watch to have for a lifetime. Enjoy it for what it is - a watch you love (I hope)!

On my watch, I figure the worst case is -$2000 in the ten years before my son gets it

Most likely is keeping up with inflation, so no cost to wear for the same 10yrs

Very sensitive to the price paid initially

Depends. At age 22, if you’d invested the money in an index fund instead of buying the watch, you’d have ~$150k in retirement funds at age 65.

Do you think your watch will be worth 150k in 40 years?

It's a watch, wear it & enjoy it. Who really cares what it's worth? I buy things to enjoy them, whoever inherits them, can worry what they're worth.
