Since I started to use leica cameras I opted for the silver on black color for all three models I have. My wife think I got only one :-)

As far as she knows I've had one motorcycle for 21 years straight.

She started off by saying, “did you purchase yet another watch!”, to which I casually said, no, this is the same Hulk I’ve always had. Then she called my bluff and went to my watch holder and busted me.

She then asked me to try on both. So I put them on side by side, and she was surprised by just changing the dial to black what a sharp difference it made (she didn’t comment on the other details).

Anyway, the reason I bring this up, if after twenty plus years my wife has finally commented on a watch she likes, it just cements my own belief, this is one of the best modern SS watches Rolex has released to date (not counting five digits)
Thank you for the great side by side pic.
From my own humble perspective, I do not see the appeal of the Cermit.
It is a black sub with a green bezel. The most complaints that I read about the Hulk surround the bezel. So not sure how taking that bezel in conjunction with a black dial improved things. What makes the Hulk special for me is the sunburst green dial which is mesmerizing. Depending on how the light hits it, I get a Hulk or a Cermit as it some lights the dial looks black.

Congratulations on both watches.

If she's a "destroyer of watches" then you really should fix her up with a Rolex.

116610lv is the much more interesting dial. The new 12 series looks cheap to me.

Congrats! Great looking watch. Back in the days when I could buy and sell easily, this situation came up often. At one point I had 5 LN Subs from different eras, so I could easily pass another one in the mix. The usual response, "they all look the same"

Surprise surprise.. Some of us realized this back in 2003
Kermit still gets my vote.

But big congrats. Looks good

It's all preference, I personally like the Hulk more. And I don't own one. Both are great though.

She has two of her own, lady’s djs. But they are small, 26mm, and now she is starting to prefer closer to 36-40mm.

There was nothing in your post that indicates she said she liked it. She said the black dial was a sharp difference

Awesome ! I surely can’t wait to be able to take that same comparison pic myself .. absolutely love my green sub —- but I’m just as big of a fan of the new one .. I’ve been told I can expect it before the new year so I’m hoping for that to be true .. so pumped and seeing these posts don’t make it easy !! Lol

Also I read through the comments - I think people who aren’t seeing the appeal in this compared to the hulk just need to see it in person, OR some quality photos of it - in different lighting scenarios and different angles... because I myself admit, initially I was thinking ok well a black sub with a hulk bezel (so to speak) really isn’t anything to write home about !!?? ...oh no, I was way wrong ..! Awesome awesome piece, it just works .. especially with the new proportions, and size overall, bracelet .. I’m a fan all the way around .. but the good news for me is I’m still every bit the fan of the previous model so lucky for me I really love both .. and soon enough can say I have both too lol !

My wife does not notice and does not really care. When pressed to tell me which one she prefers, she chose the Explorer II. She has great taste and I love her very much. We've known each other for 44 years, married 36.

I am not fully transparent and when I do share my wife just rolls her eyes and says "you have a problem", which I 100% agree with!

Lol, thankfully no...., she did politely request I sell one of my watches though...I committed to selling a duplicate watch I have and was hoping to keep for a long time.

Close...The pics are out of order I see. 2001 Fat Boy (or was it 2000?), 2004 Road King Custom and 2014 Street Glide Special.

Seems like a lot of you guys have great wives. Like a recurring theme.

That said, my theory is that because our relationships are going so well contributes to where we are in life that we can afford to enjoy Rolex as a hobby..
