a very belated "much appreciated, sir"

~~~
It's been a while since I posted but I've been wearing the 765 on a weekly basis - love both but I admit this one's getting a lot of wrist-time
Congrats, wohoo
You'll agree with me that the both go so well together - Breitling & Fred did an amazing job with these two references
Enjoy and feel free to post more shots here anytime
Breitling Re-Editions 806 Navitimer & AVI 765: A Pictorial
Been wearing the 806 Re all week. Man this watch is just so good. Literally nothing I can nitpick. Such pieces are hard to find for me. Fred is my horological hero for making sure this was done correct.
The last one's Hanhart's 417 ES. The "tree" is actually a study in case sizes; the 765 (above it) comes in at 41mm and the Hanhart at 42mm.
A case study...
...38-39.7-41-42mm stack ...of awesomeness!
Of course it takes more than the diameter to really appreciate the "perceived" size with dial, bezel and lug2lug all adding to the final impression.
The Navitimer turns 70!
Considering either the new 2022 Reverse or Silver Panda in 43mm - had the Rev. on the wrist already, just waiting to see the silver before making the call...
'Till then I've got this one most awesome 806RE on the wrist today
Wearing my 806 on vacation and put it back on the factory strap for the first time. Man breitling straps are so good. This is legit the only watch I have ever been 100 percent sure I’ll never sell. Someone call me out if I do lol
Looking good, sir
I myself love the strap, Fred prefers his on brown & rough, rugged leather
One thing about these OEMs, though; they're less than optimal for the larger Breitling fans. I'd say 7, 71/2" is the limit
Yeah I have a 7 wrist and wear it dead center on the oem strap. I’ve been wearing it exclusively on a green suede like strap and also a tan one but really enjoying the OEM this week.
FliegerFriday × #PilotFriday x #NaviFriday x ... NWA!
AKA the "Twin Jet" (Navitimer 806 Mk5.x)
Not directly related to the 806 Re-Edition, but an 806 all the same
Great review and comparison. I very like both of the watch and I think Breitling made much better watch compare to Omega Speedmaster. Thanks for sharing.
#FliegerFriday x #FridayNightLumeBattle
From L-R: 2019 806RE, 1967 806TJ & 2017ST (Speedmaster). All individual images are 15s exposures @f/8, ISO 100
At the center of this battle is a 55yr-old Breitling 806 Navitimer
While it shines bright enough, it only manages it for a minute or so, not nearly enough to be a real contender
Tritium lume is a radioluminescent* compound and although the Zinc-Sulfide phosphoric component survived, the Tritium with a half-life of ~12 years is long since depleted.
Therefore there’s nothing left to “excite” the Zinc-Sulfide which, unlike strontium-aluminate*, cannot retain a long-term “charge”
*Whereas SuperLumiNova, Lumibrite, Chromalight, etc. are phosphorescent pigments that are based on the "quick-charge / slow-release" strontium-aluminate compound.
Many thanks
I wouldn't go as far as saying my Breitling(s) are better or worse than my Speedmasters - I love them all and appreciate their contributions to the evolution of the Chronograph
