Thanks! It’s a bit of a chameleon cos of the way the brushing is so deep into the material and the way it breaks up the light. In some settings it can look like a chocolate brown. Like so much about this watch, it’s deceptively simple.

was going to say looks kind of simple. i imagine one of those watches that looks better in person with the way the brushing reflects light.

It looks far better in the flesh. My wife didn’t like it in pictures but adores it on the wrist. It is proving an impossible watch to photograph properly...

I have a burgundy dial incoming tomorrow. Can't wait. Got super lucky and got a call from a dealer who had one arrive in shop and chose to call me!

Nice watches, but the sport model is not exciting. I think moser, bvlgari and parmigiani have more interesting looks. Vacheron has similar system for strap change.

Parmigiani looks nice. The Moser and Bvlgari are interesting looking but not my style. Of the Czapek, Parmigiani, Moser, and Bvlgari, I'd rather get the Czapek.

I guess it’s all down to personal taste (and how long you intend to keep the watch). The detailing of the Parmigiani always fell flat, and the other two, though beautiful, scream “I AM NOW!” I prefer the restrained, considered resolve of the Czapek.

I suspect that the Bulgari and Moser will age badly, while the Antarctique is a timeless design (and I put money on that).

Do you find the finish to be on par for a 20K watch? I only ask since they are such a new company and their stainless three hands are in the same price range as PP aquanaut and AP Royal Oak (msrp). I have my order in... but a bit nervous never having held one in the flesh

That isn't entirely true - like for like MSRP, the Czapek is about 50% less. That said, I also own a PP Aquanaut and an AP RO. Short answer: yes.

Any chance you can do a picture comparing your RO to the Czapek? I have a 15400 and wanted to see how the watch compares.

Everything on the Czapek is sharper. The chamfering tends to be saved for areas that would interact with the skin.

That’s an interesting way to look at it. It also has a lovely vintagey domed crystal where every other watch in the sector (that I can think of) has a flat crystal flush to the bezel.

So that’s the funny thing. (Wow, I’m gonna have nothing to put in the review at this rate!) - it’s not that slim, but it looks positively tiny on the wrist. The scalloped side cut-outs and tiered profile (due to the case/bezel/crystal layering) make it appear, at over 10mm [edited from the incorrect “over 11mm”], as thin as my Aquanaut at ~7mm. The Lange Odysseus that I tried on, though the same height, seemed gargantuan in comparison.

Hodinkee says 10.6 mm tall. You know is watch geeks, .4mm in discussions of thickness is a big deal ;)

The 'tiered' profile of case, bezel and 'top hat' crystal... sum 10.6mm.
