So, to recap:

The "truth" about the 116610lv is just someone's opinion.

Someone else agreed so much so that he got rid of the 116610lv that he didn't get rid of.

... and the boss was pissed off by the aforementioned nonsense.

Don't do that, that's the truth.

Have it, love it and have been wearing it everyday. That said, I could see how it’s not for everyone. I’m sure this is part of the reason Rolex makes far fewer green Subs than black Subs.

I couldn’t give a damn if the people that see my Hulk on my wrist don’t like it. Having had a 114060, which I absolutely loved, I like the Hulk more, so I absolutely know it is the right watch for me.

It never appealed to anyone I knew. If anything, a couple of my friends made fun of the watch, on their own volition, without any prompting.

About 7 years later, with supply low, and then demand going high, so many people, including myself, began to appreciate the appeal of the watch.

I was seriously considering cutting the Swatch, and my minor connections in my metropolitan area allowed for this. However, every single person that saw the watch, including my wife, dear friends, co-workers, strangers, every single person with whom I spoke either politely described why they disliked it, to outright laughed and shared how ugly they thought it was.

I'm only saying this because I think it's nice for us to not only partially depend on each other's opinions, but to seek other opinions as well, especially to the people with whom we associate in person.

The interesting part is that, I had requested that Neil send me one of the most gorgeous pictures I've seen of the Hulk, side-by-side by what a my favorites, the one 116618 LB. Again, a multitude of people had nothing but negative things to say about the watch.

I'm not bashing the watch, in fact, I'm somewhat disappointed at the people's reactions. Many of those people happy Rolex, and appreciate fine jewelry and watches, yet this is there feeling towards this particular model. I thought I would share to put things into perspective.

And RIP Hulk in My Book

Its apealing to many , to my eyes it looks like an overpriced Swatch
I guess we all have our opinions

It's like a Plum Crazy Purple Dodge Challenger, except it's a watch and....it's green.

To me the LVc is like a pug. They’re so ugly, but if you keep starring at the pug you see cuteness later on. I just can’t pull the trigger in buying one because every time I compare it with another reference I gravitate away from the LVc.

The prices from the biggest grey dealer in Europe and maybe the world now, indicates this watch is still very popular in the watch world. $13K for a 2017.

I never disputed the quality.. my dislike is the cosmetics... I love my SD and I’ve had a black sub-c date and no-date and loved them.... and if offered to me again I would take the black over the green every day of the week...
It’s not a dig and if everyone liked them and had them the world would be a boring place ....

It’s strictly my opinion and I do believe hype drives a lot of purchases... the amount of threads you read that guys are looking for a particular watch and buy something else that is in demand because they stumbled across one is a plenty even though it wasn’t what they were looking for ... that to me is buying the hype... again that’s just my opinion and im pretty sure we are all entitled to one ?
At no point did I say anyone else’s opinion was wrong

This is on point, change your avatar, don't play up to the hype either.

I think the appeal for most who appreciate the brand and it’s history is that it’s an iconic design mixed with the prestigious brand color.

It’s also very different from almost every other sub which gives it appeal to some.

It's like getting a Aston Martin or Jaguar in racing green. It's a signature colour you don't need to explane. Those that don't know say you should have purchased the car in electric red.

The LVc is certainly a type "A" personality watch and not for everybody.

The Rolex green is a darker shade of green than what’s on the Hulk though...

No it isnt. It depends on the angle of the watch. It goes from electric green to black. Signature "Rolex Green" is represented more than not on the LVc but it is in a metallic sunburst sheen.

Sorry to say I’ve never seen the appeal of that much green on a watch . But life would be boring if we all liked the same ..

Let’s be honest, buying a Rolex isn’t a whimsical purchase for most of us, so if you aren’t 100% sure that you love it, find a model you are into. I also am guilty of being swayed by what the ‘trouble n strife’ ( wife to non Londoners ) thinks, but I’m lucky because she has great taste. Yesterday she bought me the 50th anniversary sea-dweller 126600 and I bloody love it.

Never liked the hulk cosmetically. Meaning it just doesn't look good to me. It looks better in person in my hand than in the pictures and if i look at it in a certain light but it should not be this hard. A 16710 or 16610 or a Daytona looks good in whatever lighting in pictures or in person. Just my personal opinion, hope I didn't offend anyone.

Green hair would look good on you.

Green contact lenses, green hair dye, the Hulk on your wrist! And have your entire body tatoo'd as an English Ivy vine! Now you'll have something there and no excuses not to wear "The" green timepiece!

There ya' go!

Please send photos after the tats!

Truth About the Hulk 116610LVc

I love mine. But to each their own. And I like green.

To be fair, it is op’s decision... if he wants to or doesn’t want to buy a watch for whatever the reason may be, it’s up to him.. especially if the close people around him is a factor into buying a watch, let it be.. just my 2 cents.

What a whacky post. Sure, you have a right to your opinion. You don’t like the Hulk.... I get it. But why buy it? Why have it listed in your signature? Why the Hulk avatar? You must be very confused.

I don't understand all this "buying into the hype" crap, but perhaps I don't go out and buy a watch because someone else says they like a green dial and bezel and I can't form my own opinion so I go and buy a watch based on someone else's colour preferences, only to realise $10,000 later that I don't like 'green'.

But then a lot of people have a lot more sense and money than me.
Spot on

I love sub-c’s and never said that I didn’t.... was aimed at the LV only as the discussion is about the hulk not submariners as a whole... my apologies I should have been clearer. I still believe the hype drives it and as far as people wasting money... in my “opinion” anyone that pays over retail helps create this hype and “desperate want” for them
