My 1675 GMT Master, purchased new 1978 and wearing it every day; cpl. original, unpolished, few scratches, excellent condition, bezel slightly faded, markers almost white...........
Complete with all stuff from 1978 (boxes, certificate, labels, booklets, calendar, map etc.)................



..........including Dutch invoice with purchase price of NLG (Dutch Guilders) 1070,- equivalent Euro 470,- equivalent USD 582,-.............

I have been haunting the internet trying to find out exactly what GMT Master I have.
So far I know it is about a 1965 model. Serial number 1359027. It has square crown guards, a small pointer GMT hand and a 7206 bracelet.
I cannot figure out if the dial is matte or gloss.
Was this serial number range born with one or the other? How do I tell the difference? Shiny or not shiny? The pics on line all look the same to me.

I own a K model GMT master 2 and it came with holes in the case as well as a SEL bracelet..wear it all the time!

According to http://www.bernardwatch.com/Rolex-Serial-Numbers your serial indicates 1959. The inside of your case back should have a a two digit number (59) next to roman numerals I-IV. The roman numerals signify the quarter the watch was built in 59. I am new to this, but this is the info I have gathered for a few GMT projects I'm trying to start. This site has been amazing. Thanks to everyone who has contributed. Please tell me if I am mistaken, and where I can get better information. Thanks.

Here's a historical type question that puzzles me. I have a 1966 or 67 GMT 1675 and the movement calibre is a 1570.

I followed this link: http://www.gmtmasterhistory.com/gmt-..._ref_1675.html

and it tells me that the only two calibre's offered for the 1675 are 1565 & 1575 so where does mine fall in line. Is this information 100% accurate or do I have the worlds rarest GMT?

@Tim: I am not an expert, but I think the information on those site, while good, should be understood as "this is the best that we know so far." Historically, Rolex has been somewhat irregular in its practices, so it's hard to tell what went on with absolute certainty.

No pics of it other than the movement, I've never taken any with it together, it's just a watch to me, just a run of the mill GMT. Here's the calibre stamp before I tore it down to overhaul it.
