Winders are unnecessary. It's not hard to wind a watch before you put it on.
I store mine in their original boxes but if you have many watches you might want to consider a nice multi-watch box.

Not convinced there’s a consensus. About to have an incoming for a 2nd Rolex. What’s the best option for storing?
I plan to probably switch around weekly. Don’t plan on using a winder. What’s best position? Upright, 9 or 3 o’clock down? Crown in or out? Does the movement go bad without continued use and dry out? Thanks ahead for input.

Always was told its better to keep them on a winder so the oil is distributed properly internally if not wearing them. Plus its fun to watch them spin |

I use rolex watch pouches for my Rolex's and generic watch pouches for non-rolex... and the pouches go in my safe.

I store mine in sealed time capsule device which guarantees minimal oxygen and humidity. This form of storage takes the deterioration of seals, corrosion and the drying of oils to an absolute minimum. The watch could be stored like this for 1000 years and it would be as good as when it was sealed in, with no need of a service.

You may want to re-think this. I forgot to mention I have a watchdog. Her name is Pebbles and she's as mean as a junkyard pit bull. |

My 2 watches are insured and sitting on my night stand. If one gets stolen while I am out, I get to go shopping for a new watch. I stopped worrying about such things anymore. If I can't feel safe in my house then why live here.

Winders in a wall cabinet in the walk in closet. I don't always turn them on but it's nice to not have to set dates every time I wear one that hasn't been out in a while.

GsurgBM, What is the point of having all of them on winders, especially if they are not showing the correct time? They are all showing different times so I can only assume most of them are showing the wrong time.

I rotate watches each week. When they aren't on my wrist they are in the safe. Not safe queens, they get well worn every other week.

Bottom two are the wife's... she's given me permission for one more at the current time and it's proving difficult to both find, and make, a choice between the 116600 and 116500LN white dial.

I'll never ever understand the winder thing. I have quite a few watches and keep them in the safe in watch boxes. I rotate daily and wind set as necessary.
