The OP came here seemingly asking for help with a purchase decision. After a bit of digging around we find he's trying to profit by misrepresenting a watch he now knows is not authentic. I can understand why folks would be a bit miffed.

Curious Watch Deal
And why is your for sale listing still active?
He has now lowered the price to $6500...yet still claims its a Rolex. Shame on you, this is considered fraud. |

Perhaps if more fraudulent people were called out and held accountable for their actions, there would be fewer such incidents. Even if you were playing devil's advocate, this guy doesn't deserve a free pass.

If its unintentional, then its excused. But this is an outright lie for profit which is simply unethical. Its against the integrity of this forum.

It's not completely fake.
He has a genuine Acrylic Pearl and a long 5 insert.

Clearly his whole story is BS. If he bought from a reputable dealer he would have returned it. Now he is committing fraud.

Reported to FleaBay - also - I am not sure that insert is legit.

This is the reply I got on the bay...
"Actually, selling a parts watch- every piece is authentic. Bidding is up to a hundred dollars. Someone's getting a great deal." Greasy indeed. |

I've been on TRF for a while but not exactly present. Do the mods here do anything about this? It's sad he's a pledge member and trying to sell a fake. His story is obviously false about the jewelry store.
Very glad this got exposed. Piece of trash. I've reported many on eBay selling fake snowflake subs. I got a reply after PM'ing the buyers, one guy told me he spent $8000 on two of them from this guy, he thanked me and was able to get money back from his credit card company. The piece of shit seller replied to me "oh well, I'll go sell them somewhere else". These people are criminals. And somehow this OP is dumb enough to start a thread here and try to get away with it.

Maybe next time call it a night before you try justifying a liar. These are the types of people that leave a smelly brown stain on vintage collecting as a whole.

"the smelly brown stain" on Vintage is what it is. This is a world wide hobby with hundreds of thousands of watches being bought and sold so I still say BUYER BEWARE!! Also, I want to point out that the majority of what I wrote was for buyers to do the due diligence if they want to own a vintage Rolex. I also don't believe I justified anything he did. However, I did state that I do not care and still do not care if people want to put fake, franken or any other combination of vintage watches on the market....you know why?!? Because I for one do my due diligence and would prefer people to learn and do the same and not just buy watches that cost multiple thousands of dollars without knowing what they are getting themselves into. As I said previously this is not like buying a modern Rolex (which there are still tons of counterfeits and frankens too) *** I also reported the item to eBay to assist those poor soles that buy expensive items without knowing anything about them

Friendly back and forth is how you describe it? I don't think it was funny, and I doubt I'm the only one who will remember how you feel about potential buyers. But more importantly, how it reflects on you as a potential seller. It says to me you're fine with deceiving someone and if they don't do enough homework, then tough luck.

I would dare to ask the mods on this forum to ban this member...
There is , to my opinion, no room for these kind of people here. A petition ! |

I am not defending anyone just merely stating the obvious that buying a vintage rolex takes some time and effort not just $. Again I apologize if what I have written has been offensive, but I will say that anyone who reads this thread and is in the market for a vintage Rolex will most likeky do more research.

I wouldn't prefer people to get burned, I would prefer them to research their item. However some people feel the need to touch the stove even though they are told its hot.
