Me too. Daytona dial is too busy for my eyes and the case looks unbalanced. Never been a fan.

I like both watches but the SS Pepsi will return to normal price and demand with time and the introduction of other models. The Daytona will always be the Daytona and that is where I would go.

I would agree with you if it was a few years back. But this days Sub is so common and Daytona so rare and more desirable. Post the poll "If only watch Sub or Daytona" and I'm sure that it will be no content, Daytona will be by large margin.

Got both.

Pepsi by a country mile.

Daytona is not even close.

There are more parameters than rarity, desirability, and poll results that define an icon in any industry. All things considered, I agree that the title does belong to the sub.

popularity/scarcity etc to me is different than the iconic/flagship professional watch. The sub is absolutely everywhere yes, and a lot of that is because to me its THE rolex watch. Its not winning a popularity contest vs a daytona though.

You may (and probably are) indeed be correct my friend.

My only comeback would be that your average Joe watch observer wouldn't be able to tell a Sub from a Sea Dweller 16600 from a GMT black 116710LN.

Whereas the Daytona is instantly recognisable and copied by many.

Can we agree that they are both iconic-classic Rolexes.

Pepsi GMT. I’ve had three steel Daytonas over the years, function and legibility are more important to me now that having “the watch you can’t get.”

Daytona, period. It’s the kind of versatile watch that fits in every occasion; formal or casual. Whereas the colors on the Pepsi makes it pretty much an one-trick pony.

The Pepsi for sure. I owned a 116520 Daytona and it was great but having ventured into other brands I don’t feel like it is that special anymore. The Pepsi it totally unique and probably the best gmt function (tied with Patek travel time)

Between the two, I'd go Pepsi but I really like the Daytona.

As I never owned a Daytona I can not really respond. I love my BLNR and would say gmt all the way :)

I have both colour 116500 and the Pepsi C , I voted Daytona white Dial , but I’m not sure I’d choose a black 500 over the Pepsi

I chose the white dial DaytonaC from my AD. I personally do not like the colors of the new 126710BLRO. YMMV. Cheers!

Own both, but I sold the Daytona within 3 months of owning it, didn’t realize I use date so much on my watch until I wore the daytona, gave it to the wife and she doesn’t enjoy it as much as her sky dweller, so it is a goner after that

No interest in the Pepsi. Daytonas are hot though.

D500 for me, it is small, sleek and cool, and my nice no worry daily, the Jubilee's still not for me on the BLRO but love the bezel.

Pepsi for sure.

Daytona is a handsome watch but can’t beat the Pepsi in terms of utility.
Pepsi wins as it’s got date and GMT complications.

Daytona has a chrono that I never use.
To thick the box with a chrono, I personally got myself an amazing UG Uni-Compax in rose gold. Costed less than half the price of a Daytona and, boy, it’s a beauty to look at.

I’ve never understood why people don’t use the chrono function of the Daytona as a dual time-zone function? Just start the chrono at noon or midnight of your second time zone and the hour indicator at the 9 on the dial becomes the hour indicator of the second time zone (just no day/night indicator).

Because it’s a column wheel, you can just let it run until you get home and then reset it back to zero.

It's an innovative approach. For me, one of the best Rolex GMT features is the fact the hour hand is adjustable. I actually value that feature more than the extra hand for travel.
