Bond Omega is not bad. However, the bracelet and the gap between the ears and the clasp are weak. The unsinkable Sub has a considerable advantage in this respect and I indicate it as the winner.

I’d take a 2 tone SM300 at a discount over the sub. Not a huge fan of the Bond one with the dark lume etc.

Unabashedly superficial response: Based purely on the pictures you’ve posted, and no legacy baggage towards either side, it’s a no-contest. The Rolex is a gazillion times better looking. That Omega probably got its designer fired (maybe). Your kids will be over the moon if they inherit the Rolex... won’t think kindly if you left them the other one.

Cheers.

Sub over SMP. Had both. Let the most recent version of the wave dial/rubber strap go. Skeleton hands are not for me, and I like Rolex so much better there is no need for Omega in my collection. (It would not get worn). YMMV

I have both .... kinda.

Bought a new SMP GMT in 2008 ... travelled the world over. Recently changed the shiny/brushed bracelet for a strap ... and that kinda sums up Omega for me. Form doesn’t always follow function. Great (coaxial) movement, thicker than required, less expensive (got mine 35% off), GMT and diver-bezel function, and I don’t fear losing it. Concur on the faux-patina comments, but, hey, mine is of the Brosnan-era issue, so I can’t talk.

Also have a 14060M - pure form and function, last of the 2-up/ 2-down, my favorite time piece. The 6-digit feel large to me, and although the new bracelet is more functional, I like mine lighter thank you very much.

That probably doesn’t answer your question.

OMEGA! Better movement & anti-magnetic to 15,000 gauss. It's cheaper and it's a much better looking watch. NOT. EVEN. CLOSE.

Whilst the new 007 Sea Monster looks
decent ( save the pusher on the left) the
submariner has stood the test of time in all aspects ...

Submariner for the win!!!!
Don’t even get me started on the
Reese's Peanut Butter Cup button on the left
side of the Sea Monster 300...
what a turn off !!!

If not for that ugly pusher it might stand a chance.
That pusher totally ruins the Sea Monster for me .

I’ve got both, seamaster was first then the sub. If I could choose only one, I’d go with the sub for sure. It gets way more wrist time then the seamaster. I still love the seamaster thought.....

If you buy omega, Get something that it a brand is known for. Like a speedy. I wouldn’t get a submariner from a company other than rolex.

I have two smpcs (blue gold on strap and the white) and the 114060.

I love and wear all of them, but if I had to go with one only for now, it’d be the sub. Imo it’s probably the best gada out there - tough but handsome!

While that new bond is really cool, I feel like the sub is the better all around watch. The style of the sub is timeless. I feel like that particular bond watch would get old, the regular SMP in black or blue, maybe.

In the Rolex vs Omega debate I think you need to go vintage Omega to get their truly iconic watches.

I'm an Omega fan, but I think the company has overplayed the James Bond angle.

That particular watch doesn't look attractive to me, at least not enough to beat the ageless Sub.

Love my 2010 Seamaster 300 diver it gets the most wrist time of all my watches, I would happily partner it with a ND Sub or a newer Seamaster but not this Bond watch, its just...... well just no.

Omega missed the mark with this one IMHO.

That crown at 10:00 just annoys the heck out of me......Sub is my pick
I am however, a big fan of the older Seamaster GMT....2234.50. Great timepiece

I would pass on the Bond version, too gimmicky for me. The standard black version of the SMP 300 watch to watch is ever bit equal to the Sub if not superior but in name recognition and value retention. If you have never owned a Rolex then you probably will want to go that route to get it out of your system. I just purchased the blue version of the SMP 300 and am very pleased.

If I was 17 years old, then I would be all over the James Bond edition Omega; but I am not.

The fake vintage Luminova is especially cringe-worthy; it's like those cars that make fake roaring engine sounds through the speakers.

Perhaps Omega would come up with pre-scratched bracelet and glass on their next 007 edition to mimic how James Bond's daily wear would look like?

They are. I think the white dial is maybe more photogenic, but I prefer the black dial on wrist... it is more versatile and also a seriously good looking watch.
