Uncomfortable 116610 !

To give me the maximum possible glidelock expansion available. This gives me the option to use the glidelock for its intended purpose. Unlike the easylink the glidelock isn’t just for comfort or fine adjustability. It’s primary use is to allow bracelet expansion for use over thinner wetsuits with the extension link for use over thicker diving suits. If you have the bracelet set up with less links and the glidelock fully extended, that defeats its purpose. But I appreciate most will never use it for that so it’s purely a personal preference as it gives a little more bracelet weight Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

My wrist is about 7 inches.
My set up is 5.5 at the 12 and 5 at the 6. I then use glide lock as needed |

Interesting most people say on hot humid days their wrists swell and they appreciate the adjustability of the clasp to lengthen the bracelet. From what you say, I would think the watch overall is still too loose for it to be able to slide down to your hand.

Yeah that’s a good point for full arm wetsuits. I usually only dive warm climates so I don’t use a wetsuit. But not having to add a link if I dive off the California coast would be a nice option. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

Back in 2015 I purchased the 116600 Sea Dweller instead of the Submariner mostly because I found the thicker watch was more comfortable. The added thickness of the case helped keep the crown off the back of my hand. It helped, but it wasn't comfortable. On a couple of occasions the crown would rest on a vein on the back of my hand and give me a blood blister. I played around with links and found that shortening the 6hr side and lengthening the 12hr side helped . . . but it still wasn't what I would call comfortable . . . just more tolerable. Just last week I think I finally found the answer. I put the divers extension that the watch came with back on the bracelet. By doing so it effectively lengthened the clasp. The longer feel of clasp kept the watch from moving around on my wrist and keeps the crown in a comfortable place. I guess the moral of the story is "If you like the watch, keep messing around with it and making adjustments" It took me five years, but now I wear the watch much more frequently than ever before.

Having followed this thread from the start, and having never been 100% happy with the fit of my 114060 for over a year when I first walked out of the AD, I learned a lot by reading all of these posts...and decided to try something. For my flat, 7" wrist, I had 4 links on 6 side and 5.5 links on 12 side...and it never felt like the watch was sized properly. I usually only had one or two "clicks" left in the glidelock, albeit the clasp was nicely centered. It just tended to bother me at times and somehow felt off. Tonight, I added a full link back in, for 4 links on 6 side, and 6.5 links on 12 side. It feels like a completely different watch now! It's much more comfortable and stable- it doesn't dig into my wrist bone at all like before. I now have a better fitting watch and much more room to expand the bracelet (FYI I never had any luck setting the glidelock to "midpoint" when sizing the bracelet). Thanks so much to everyone who has contributed to this thread!!! |
