No change. Wore my 5712 in midtown. I either wear a Rolex or a PP every day.

as an nyc resident of 15 years who’s just doubled down down and bought an apartment here a week ago, I can definitively say two things:

(1) it would never occur to me to comment (at all, much less authoritatively) on the safety—or lack thereof—of going about life in a city in which I don’t currently live; and

(2) there’s no place on the planet I’d rather live than nyc (which, having grown up in boston and maintained my sports-fan allegiances, somewhat hurts to admit ).
I’m with you and I don’t live there, but have been a frequent visitor for years. I love the City, you either “get it” or you don’t. I’m sure the pandemic was hard on New York but my friends that live there all tell me it is rising like a Phoenix again and daily life is slowly returning to a new normal. I can’t wait to go back this fall.
Again I repeat, if you are worried about wearing your watch there then don’t.

LOL... that photo is from 6 years ago. the storefront pictured--it used to be a restaurant called Bianca as you can see in the photo--closed in 2015 (http://biancanyc.com/). a new place opened in the same location and is still open.

it's called Bessou and the address is 5 Bleecker Street in case anyone would like to visit (https://www.bessou.nyc/). it's lovely (and frequented by lots of rolex wearers).

pretty much sums up this this thread (and emphasizes my earlier point)...

what possesses a person to search the internet for 6 year old photos and present them as current to make a city they don't live in look bad I don't know, but I'd try to find a hobby.

The sad truth. I escaped LA many moons ago.
