I’m sure the 116500 will explode in price if the current model gets discontinued, but I’m sure I’m not the only one who has noticed that the market price seems to be softening. The $40k pieces seem to be collecting dust and cheaper versions seem to be cropping up. Just a few months ago it seemed like the price was jumping weekly and it seems to have plateaued recently — or perhaps even declined a bit.

The only panda i know currently is the WG daytona. Are we sure OP isn’t referring to the 116519? That would make a lot more sense

If i had a friend pay 40k for a stainless Daytona i would send him weekly text messages with $40,000 and a emoji. that’s absolutely not the market price. I think 30k is bananas but closer to the absurd reality that is SS Rolex. If you’re spending 40k on Rolex, it should be PM.

Buy the day date at an AD and ask for a white Daytona after that purchase. Never know you might be able to bundle…..

$40K and Rolex isn't on my shopping list.

But of those two, the DD. By a billion miles.

I would get the DD unless you getting precious metal Daytona then I’d go with Daytona.

Day Date!

If I were in the market for a chronograph, I'd buy a Zenith El Primero Chronomaster Sport at retail for US $10k. It's available.

DD.
If you don't like the DD get a white or blue TT skydweller AND a TT DJ light dial and still have change!

They’ve come down very very much recently - black dial especially.

Still it’s not a watch I’d be interested in still at today’s prices.

Daytona by a distance for me, it's just a more dynamic, more wearable watch. MSRP or some idea of intrinsic value doesn't come into it for me, it's just about the watch.

Black dial Daytona has come down a little bit recently but my answer is the Day Date at MSRP.

Didn’t read a single response, just came in here to say Day Date! Post pictures when you get it. The ones lately have been great.
