This piece is the single most comfortable watch I've ever worn and also the most beautiful. I've worn it just about every day since I bought it.

I've made a few "discoveries" with this watch.
  • First: An "entry" Rolex model doesn't mean that it has any inherent compromise. In fact, I've come to realize that owning just ONE Rolex pretty much gives you the experience of nearly the entire catalog. The Oyster case and design ethos are so pure and raw in their expression within the OP. I doubt Hans Wilsdorf himself would change anything about it. It's simple, elegant, and timeless. The dial is impeccable. A truly perfect watch.
  • Second: The modern Rolex bracelet is incredible. I have spent most of my life avoiding steel/metal bracelets because I have always found them uncomfortable on most brands. Sharp, unrefined edges, leaving marks on my skin, pulling at hairs (and I have hairy arms)... the oyster bracelet makes absolutely NO offense and feels like fine silk on the wrist. It's amazing. There's just the right amount of taper and the clasp is a feat of engineering excellence. Now that I have experienced this level of quality in bracelet and clasp, I've come to expect that quality in any watch that I spend big $$$ on... so naturally I am left with a sense of disappointment in many other brands. In some ways one could argue this has spoiled my experience in other brands, but I think it is more appropriate to say that I now have a higher sense of scrutiny.
  • Third: You can only wear one watch at a time. I have a few pieces and sometimes I struggle to pick which one I'll put on. The OP36 usually wins the battle, owing to its supreme comfort and incredible versatility. It makes me think: "How many of these do you really need?"
  • Finally: At the end of the day, it's about what YOU love and you should wear what's true to your own heart. Too often it seems people are just following the herd, or thinking about only the hottest/"investment" piece. My OP doesn't get all the glamor shots on instagram, twitter, tiktok, whatever. It's not some crazy hype piece or widely-perceived grail that everyone is trying to get. Nevertheless, I truly adore this watch and actually feel that it is a better fit for me than a sub, or a GMT. It certainly fits my smaller wrist in a better way and it also serves my needs just fine, as 100m waterproofness is all that I could need and I don't care much for the date or second time zone. This perfect, beautiful, under-the-radar masterpiece fits my lifestyle and brings me a sense of satisfaction that leaves me thinking: "maybe my grail is the watch I already own, here on my wrist." I think that sort of bond is what makes it so special.
I couldn’t agree more. This is perfectly articulated. The versatility of this watch trumps all. It’s hard to feel like you need another. It’s caused me to sell many previous watches with no regrets. I’m down to this and a LHD Pelagos which has a charm all its own too.

I still love Rolex though.

Ha. No sorry to mislead :). When I got my first watch (the sub) I gave away about 5 watches that I had previously thought were cool including an omega constellation. The sub was the watch that made me appreciate what a fine watch should be, changing my collecting interests. 20 years later it took me to get my second watch … another Rolex (Daytona). Since then some of my favorites have been the the journe and pateks but none have impacted my direction like the sub.

I don’t have recent live pic of collection but Currently enjoying these however, change is always around the corner.

I like to play with the stock images to juggle and substitute what the collection could look like.

Ps Daytona is on the block pending availability of something I’m looking for from Patek.

Also waiting on the 321 speedy for quite a while now.
