Also, just a heads up - I went on UpWorks, and I hired someone to make some mockups for me. I'll post the mockups here when I am done.
But I have to say, it has been kind of fun - and it has been extremely reasonably priced. For those, like me, with zero photoshop experience, hiring someone is a nice test drive. Particularly because I don't feel bad asking for a lot of changes. |

My AD actually has an in-house app which can do most of the "basic" dial and color combinations.

Dang, really? That is pretty cool.
That AD would probably drop me because I am a lunatic :). |

I already know my dial color choice and numerals. Right now it is only the dial guilloche patterns and movement finish which are still open. And a red 12 for my birth month to personalize it as suggested by someone here. Cannot wait for 2025 to come around. |

Great to hear all your Voutilainen's journey here. Please do share and post pics, whether they are actual watches, mock-ups or IGs, all are welcome!

Last month Mr Voutilainen asked for the exact specifications that I want and I provided my input. Now waiting for his response.
======== In this latest interview, he spoke of huge back orders and that he is trying to reduce waiting time as it is getting a bit long now. He also said he has 32 people working with him, and they fabricate everything in-house except for mainspring, hairspring and jewels, which is very impressive for a micro independent imo. Many independents these days are just doing assembling with no work of their own on movement, finishing and fabrication, ahem. His annual capacity is now 60 watches per year. Hope I can get mine before 2026 |

A real treat to get a KV. Will be worth the wait I suspect.
Before the market went bonkers there was this Parisian/Ukrainian guy here who ordered one and had a hunter caseback installed and there was a relief of a naked woman on it haha Everyone said he was nuts. He got what he wanted.

I have also asked Mr Voutilainen to do something very audacious. I doubt he will ever agree. Will share more later. |

Happy to hear that you are getting the request for the design confirmation. But I am that you got a 2026 delivery date and I am supposed to have a 2025 delivery but no request from him yet. Is there something in your design which may need early confirmation?

I have the impression he is extremely busy hence the progress has been modest thus far, but hope he manages to fulfill his back orders soon. I honestly have no idea but all these correspondences with him are via my AD btw (could that be a reason?). Before the communication last month, there wasn't anything from me that might have suggested a longer watch turnaround time. |

I'm sure there will be some slowdown with getting urban jurgenson ready for 2023. When I inquired a year or so ago I was coming up with mockups it was a 2 year wait then a few months later when I was narrowing things down it exploded to 5 so I decided to shelve the idea

End of 2021 I was told a two years wait and similar to you, I put in my order then and was told all orders will be a 3 years wait around February of this year. |

An update I received from my AD yesterday:
I finally saw the rendering of my Vingt-8! It looks great with my customised guilloche but I have suggested a different shade of blue (my dial will be in blue) from the rendering. I have initially proposed a crazy idea for the movement but was told it can't be done. It will now be a stock Vingt-8 movement with the more traditional Côtes de Genève finishing instead of the more popular frosted finishing. Bad news is delivery is now delayed to 2027 tentatively. Payment will be in full when the watch arrives in 2027. I'm as excited as ever. |

That sucks about the delayed delivery date but quality takes time. What was the crazy idea for the movement? I have to know. The frosted finishing looks so cool but I think traditional is the way to go. I’m actually very close to putting down a deposit for my own Kari but I was nervous about the color not being exactly what I wanted. Plus I still can’t make up my mind about other minor things. Your update is making me want to stop being stubborn and get it done officially before its too late. I can’t wait to see what it looks like. As always please continue to keep us updated. |

2027… But congratulations! It seems like you already have next 10 years lined up. I was supposed to take delivery in 2024/2025. And I decided to add a matching one in 37mm for my wife. Due to some miscommunication between myself and my AD, the order was not confirmed until 3-4 months later. And since I want delivery date for both pieces to be the same. My original 2025 piece is now 2026/2027. Good news is that the orders were in and I am now waiting for final renders. My guess is that we may take delivery at about the same time. The order queue at Voutilainen is really getting crazy. |

I have asked to carve the main plate to essentially a shape I like. I know that's audacious and borderline ridiculous but anyway that didn't work out. I strongly recommend you proceed with your order. KV is a legend. |

And yea I just put a reminder in my phone to contact the AD. I need to put the deposit down asap. I’m being stubborn about this. Thank you for the motivation! |

Yes I think ours will be around the same time. I was told my order just went in recently too (I saw a screenshot of my order in their system). KV must be extremely busy with all his projects. All my watches are coming in between 2024 and 2027. Can't wait. |

2004-2007? 2027 is actually not bad. I inquired to add another KV with my AD and he is telling me that it will be 2028+. So I gave up. |

I asked my AD for another one too but was told not possible. I tried to contact KV directly via various means but he did not respond. It's alright though as they are many other watchmakers out there. |

Completely agree. I now have Haldimann H1 and Logical two on my radar. Except I have no idea what a Logical Two will be. |
