Sorry to hear that you ended up parting with the watch. You had mentioned that you were going to try emailing Rolex directly with some photos. I was just curious on if you did that and what their response was? I would have thought whether it be Rolex themselves or even inquiring with another AD, someone would have been able to help you out with this. It is truly a defect that should have never left the factory imo.

Number 2 for me.

In my opinion your AD has not be 100% honest.
It is not a problem of "scratch". How can be a scratch exactly "radial"?
Almost impossible.
That's a defect in the "treatment" of the sunburst (don't' know how to say, but you know what I mean)
So if the AD tells you "can you see? there are no scratches!"
This means nothing: Why, Rolex warranty ONLY cover against scratches?
No no, not a fair behavior.
I would try to insist.

Listen: it's 3 years you are waiting for this watch, and you are not 100% satisfied.
For sure, if you keep it as it is, you will pass the rest of time not looking at the "time"
in your watch, but rather looking "at the "scratch"" (or what it is).

Insist!

I'm going with #2 as well. It's a real bummer but it would bug the hell out of me if I tried to just leave it as is. Get the dial replaced and don't look back.

I’d send RSC Dallas. I might wait until the warranty is almost up and send in at that time hoping to get a full service in addition to the dial replacement.

My experience with RSC Dallas has been perfect. I’ve sent them multiple Daytonas, Lady’s DJ.

Thanks for the replies all. I have since decided to sell the watch ( not flip for a profit ) to someone who will enjoy it more. I currently just got a dd40 with the same defect albeit not as prominent

I would ask for a refund from the original vendor since the item is defective.

As for RSC, I don’t share your views on shabby service. I have found them nothing short of fantastic.

Funny how now one reads the thread.

If it was mine and I hadn't sold it, as the OP did, 'd just wait a few years.

When I got my DJ in 2018, I could read the date, now - 5.5 years later, I can't read it anymore.

LOL!!!
