Ended the year by adding a MK6 Red Sub from ‘74 or ‘75. After many years of buying and selling, I decided that 4 and 5 digit models were the sweet spot for me. Perfectly content with this and my 16710

My dad got his first Rolex, gifted to him by Yours Truly (and HUGE thanks to Mayors Jewelers in Tampa / Nick)

Have you gotten your mom/dad a Rolex yet as a show of thanks for putting up with 'you' all these years?

Funny to come across this... I made a thread about this last night here.

4 in (Rolex 1601, AP Millenary 4101, PP 5036G, M.A.D. 1 Red) and 3 out (GO perpetual calendar, Tudor BB bronze, Patek 5035r).

It was a quiet year.

Big changes for me in 2023...
Said goodbye to these three beauties:

And said hello to this one:

Painful stuff, but the right choices overall in my book.

Plenty of room here for both I’d say. Thanks both of you for creating your threads to give us some talking points. This is a discussion forum after all lol.

Relatively quiet year. For the first time in a long time I traded a watch. Moved my 12622 Slate for a BLRO jubilee via my AD. Loved the YM but just wasn’t wearing it much.

This year I forced myself to move on from something I wasn’t wearing much as in the past I would simply just add…Here’s to a great New Year to everyone

All good. Last year was my first and, hopefully, soon, I won't be doing them anymore as most of my buying and trading days are behind me.

Always enjoy seeing what people have done.

Even though the "watch market is dead," I managed to buy, sell and trade a few pieces throughout the year...

Picked up a DJ41 Wimbledon, 16600, 14060M, Tudor BB58 Blue and a Tudor Prince Date Chrono Panda dial. Then traded my "old" 14060M sub for a 16713 on jubilee. Highlight of the year was gifting a couple DJ's and a 34MM Air King to my daughters and son-in-law!

IN:

Added Uncle Straps Half Link to existing Tudor BB 58 - completely changed fit to now be comfortable without issues - no need to upgrade to SUB.

2023 Rolex 41 DJ 126300, White Stick Dial, Smooth Bezel, Oyster, purchased new from local AD for less than a 39mm OP white dial at today's market price that was discontinued before my allocation came up. Always loved a clean white stick dial, and only the 41mm DJ has that option. Since I kept the BB58 I shifted the funds from my "SUB FUND" to get the DJ.

Timex Q GMT - Couldn't resist Black Friday sale and worry free Quartz movement with dual time zones. Quite a nice upgrade from the original Timex Q "Pepsi". Hard to beat for under $200.

OUT:

Citizen Eco-Drive Diver - gave to grandson who enjoys it every day. No significant value, just a simple to wear rubber strap watch perfectly suited for a 14 year old.

In retrospect the DJ was an impulse buy, not really necessary or a "gotta have it" piece. Just a nice pure white stick marker dial that complements my black face BB58 and my original 1981 TT DJ Black Face/gold stick markers/arms, with matching Jubilee bracelet.

I'm set, and frankly may let go of the Tudor since I don't need 3 quality watches. On the other hand it's worth keeping for those times I want a nice watch, but also one that's off the radar and can be worn without attracting attention. The Timex is a fun toy - surprisingly comfortable, 38mm size, upgraded Swiss quartz movement and dual GMT time zones.

I had my biggest year yet in both spend and number of watches.

The highlights were a VC OS chrono, a couple of pateks, a sprite, a Pepsi, WG SkyD.

I’m looking forward to a more relaxed 2024. It probably won’t happen.

Here’s a few pics
