SD43 Vs. Deepsea
I like them both in current versions. The original Deepsea was a looser. The band was too narrow and it did not feel right on the wrist. I have owned many Seadwellers since the early 1980's and the current SD43 is by far the best of any of them. It is my favorite Rolex.
The latest Cameron version of the Deepsea is also pretty cool and I might eventually get one, but I would not trade my SD43 for one. |

Thanks so much! That's a great question. I went back and forth between the SD4K, SD43 and the Deepsea. I would say there's no wrong answer as they are all amazing. One of the biggest factors was I didn't want the pop of color, so that ruled out the SD43, even though as most people say, that's the sweet spot. But my Explorer II has a pop or orange, so I wanted my diver to be black with white text.
Between the SD4K and the Deepsea, I wished the SD4K were a bit thicker and the Deepsea a bit thinner. But it camer down to the Deepsea unappologetically knowing what it is and going all in. It's a big, chunky diver and I felt it complimented my Explorer II well, while also looking sufficiently different. Price is always a factor too as funds aren't unlimited. I felt like the Deepsea was a slightly better value for money. But the main reason is the Deepsea is all in on being an oversized bad ass diver. Trying it on made me smile more. |
