About half of my collection is PM. Nowadays, I find myself wearing PM almost exclusively on weekdays, and 50% of the time on weekends. They’ve largely been comparable in durability, and the weight of PM feels natural to me now.
Personally love it! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Yep! PM watch is a good one in any collection.

Gold is soft and heavy. Platinum is heavy and dulls easily. Neither wears well. They’re expensive compared to even high quality stainless alloys. Overall, PM is poor choice for the use case. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

A $100 casio does a better (more accurate, more functions, more robust) job. Just because a luxury item is made of stainless steel doesn't suddenly make it a "tool". Rolex watches have been Jewelry now for years.

Love my Casios. Wear them when I travel. But they’re not heirloom quality pieces. I’ll pony up the cash for a Rolex because it is a heirloom quality piece. I wear my Dad’s 40+ year old Sub regularly. My kids will inherit my watches that I’ve worn for decades, and they’ll still be beautiful functional tools. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

They just cost more. If you beat the crap out of your watches I can see the advantage of steel over gold or platinum, but for those of us who don't, they are just as serviceable as each other.

PM Rolex’s is a slippery slope. In total I’ve owned 12 of all varieties and the weight is addictable.
Now use a Sub 126619lb as my daily and a platinum daydate as a weekend watch. Both really functional for what I need |

I would argue PM wears exceptionally well with the added weight as long as it balanced. Yes both are softer than SS but who cares about a few scratches and PM will do anything SS will and less chance of rusting. If you wanted a real light weight tool watch then grade 5 Ti is better than 904l SS. I plan on beating the crap out of this WG sub for years to come and have no doubt it will hold up just fine.

I have 5 PM Rolex and they do very well. When I reduce my watch collection in retirement in 5 years or so , one or two PM timepieces should stay as my regular daily.

One aspect that consistently captivates me is the substantial weight of the watch. It imparts a genuine sensation of adorning something truly luxurious.

I've got three; I prefer to wear the DD40 and the SkyD because of the weight factor. The WG on the DayDate makes it fly under the radar. The Sub is a bit wrist heavy but I love it never the less; it's also a bit on the gaudy side of things. I sold my Platona because it was just too heavy for my liking.
