Great story and even better experience I’m sure. Congrats - these are always great to hear.
Stunning watch and one I’ve been considering! Wear it in good health.

Wow! Just Wow! Not the watch, so much as the story. I’ve never seen a meteorite dial, IRL, but I’m sure it’s amazing. Congrats! Sounds like it was meant to be your watch.

So it does support the fact that watches are sitting in the vaults. Congrats OP! Wear it in great health!

Watches are 100% in vaults. My AD told me that they have inventory out back but that it is simply them contacting their clients or going down the list to manage allocations. Anything that doesn’t move after x time can go on display / sell to a walk-in.

Quality of allocation varies by sales associate. For example, a puzzle dial, Lemans, or anything crazy would be at the discretion of owner. More common pieces (Sub, Explorer, …) would be allocated to any sales associate and they can allocate to their preferred clients or refer to “list”. This is why staying top of mind matters somewhat and occasions, etc. sometimes lead to seemingly random allocations because it makes you top of mind for a seamless transaction. Anyway, just a few ponderings based on a chat last week…

I'm a little late to this incoming, but better late than never.

Wow! What a story, I really enjoyed it. Your new watch is my personal favorite in the entire catalog. Wear it in health and safety for years to come.

Congratulations!

I am curious about the fesability of a "contract" with the AD. How would it be enforced or monitored?

Thanks everyone for the kind words, I'm glad you liked reading the experience I went through.

When it comes to the paper I had to sign, I suppose it would be impossible for them to enforce in court (one's belonging, one's decisions), but it's one way to reduce the risk of flippers walking immediately to the nearby 2nd hand watch dealer.
The SA told me he sometimes sees through the AD window customers leaving with their newly purchased Rolex directly heading to the said 2nd hand dealer.

Yea I feel like it’s just a deterrent thing. When I got my James Cameron as a walk in with no spend history (early ‘22 when JC’s were selling for $20k on grey) the AD said they engrave their casebacks to deter flipping and asked what would I want to get engraved as part of the sale.

I was stoked because I had something I wanted to get anyways and the SA said it was included, but then after I confirmed I was down their engraving machine was magically “out of service” and it wasn’t brought up again. Just a test methinks.

Back to the contract part it could also be the AD trying to insulate themselves if Rolex HQ found out pieces were being flipped immediately after purchase. They could at least show those contracts as proof they are trying to combat the problem
