My AD surprised me with a nice little Xmas gift... The SAK scales are stainless - but I'm not going to suggest it's 904L grade...

~~~ IG has a tradition of posting your top nine, most-liked posts of the year. I'm pleased to say that posts of the 126600 was among the list: I also decided to review my posts and come up with my own Top9 of 2018 too. Of course, the 126600's included https://www.instagram.com/trav11er/
Absolutely outstanding review, and the pics are undoubtedly the best I have seen! And thanks to Delvidog (Scott) for providing a link to this tread. As I have this watch on order for my 70th in October, I read every word with great interest.
One of your comments really rang true with me also: "good a place as any... ...to thank the very nice Gent at Bucherer who has helped me more than once in obtaining unobtanium. I'm no VIP by any measure and it's not my purchasing power, rather my passion that has introduced me to some good people in the field! " Over the years, I have had some really good breaks from a few of the local ADs, some of whom have become good friends of mine. I am not a wealthy guy, and most of my disposable income goes to purchasing watches. And I really have met some wonderful people. The AD from whom I am getting my SD43 is one of the most humble guys you could ever meet. My relationship to people like this makes the purchase of a new watch just over-the-top meaningful. And also getting to know some of the great guys on this forum. Anyway, really looking forward to my SD43. It has taken me 20 or so years to get to the point where I am going to have a Rolex diver. And I think this is simply the best. I might also add, that long after receiving my SD43, I will still continue to have a passion for my Explorer 1 and, indeed, Rolex watches in general. Cheers, Carl
You're going to love it, Carl! It's not only an awesome-looking watch, the 3235* is a real evolution making the SD43 one of the best divers on the market imho There will always be concerns about the additional 3mm and for many, even the classic 40mm SD is too much for their taste and only an oldskool Submariner will do it. There are also the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" SD fans who will never accept the cyclops**. For the rest of us, SD43 F.T.W. *Mine has been consistently running at +1s/d on average and only my PAM 233 can boast such accuracy **I bet a few of them love the case-lug geometry and red line of the SD43 so much that they will get one and remove the cyclops...
I've monitored mine over the past 60 days and it has achieved an amazing accuracy of 0.6s/d ...! The 3235 is really next-gen stuff
Thanks OP. Really enjoyed your review. I know you also own SLA017 and wonder how you would treat SD43 over SLA017 in your rotation. Are they staying well together? No conflicting? I own 017 and am considering SD43 at the moment. Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
2. Conflicting...? Have you seen my signature (my collection)? I tend to go for divers. Who "needs" more than one* diver... I suspect no one, so with all due respect, I have no logical answer for you... I love them all *Hypothetically speaking, if I could only have one diver... it would be the 126600....
Thanks for that great review and Good Morning to anyone still active in this thread!
I recently have a 126600 Mk I and have an issue with the wrist band needing a bit of your input: 1. I need the full length of the flip extension link (see pic). Looks and seems to feel awkward on my wrist. Seems I could need one or even 2 half and/or full size extension units should I also opt to drop the useless flip link. Any idea re/pricing and availability? The width of the SD50 wristband is non standard (even wider than the Deep Sea´s?), so is this useful? 2. How many band links is standard for the SD50? I count 5 1/2 on 12h (plus flip ext) and 4 on the 6h. That correct? Thanks for your help, Chris |
I can't help you with 1. but my link-count equals yours (6 fixed, 4xstd, 1x1/2 = 10 1/2 + flip extension). If you want to remove the flip-ext. you will need to compensate with an additional 2 links. As it's already a bit of a tight fit, I figure you should order three full links. Hopefully someone else will chime in. I also suggest you re-post in the SD43 Owner's thread for more coverage Best of luck
There are good Rolex@BaselWorld years, there are not-so-good years and then there are awesome years, like 2017
I’ve been going crazy trying to decide which black face/ black bezel sport to get between the now discontinued GMT2 and the Date Submariner. Now this Deep Sea dweller is in the mix because of this review and the included pics. Now, I think I’m deciding which two to purchase. This forum is killing me! Haha!
