That's just a regular word, not an acronym or abbreviation.

But it specifically refers to printing on the dial which isn't inherently obvious from the word which is a shortening from "gilt printed."

Several years ago I coined the term POLAR to describe my white dial Explorer... and it still seems to be used quite often on TRF.

It is usually used at the end of a message title to indicate that the title contains a response to someone's question and that there is no need to look at the text of the message since there is No Text (nt).

If you're sitting at a keyboard, is an abrieviation necessary? For mainstream common models, sure. But I miss the point if I don't know a WIS from a NIB-DSSD NFS.

And where do I find the ref numbers? I have an SS OPD, cal. 1570. How do I find a more detailed reference number?

I figured out that (NT) in a response heading stands for (No Text)....

Some forums (like VRF) are not as sophisticated as TRF and responders sometimes answer with just a heading....no text follows and they want to make sure everyone knows not to expect anything below the heading...
