GSAR is my only cheaper watch. I haven't worn it since I got back from Iraq 2-1/2 years ago. It sits in the watch box, right next to my Sub (that is, when I'm not wearing my Sub).

Thing is...if you were reaching into the display box for a diver to wear, which one would you pick?

I have as much interest/enthusiasm in "value brands" as i do in luxury brands.

The imagination of Swatch,Fossil is amazing,......the quality, design, innovation that Seiko,Citizen,Rotary,Casio and many, many others achieve at such amazing prices is mind-bending...........Seen the Timex range recently????..check it out....no joke....its like when everyone used to make jokes about Hyundai cars.....well take a look at Hyundai now!!!!!!!

My everyday beater is a Seiko Black Monster, and "$ for $" i would argue it is possibly one of.....THE BEST watches in the World!!!!!!!!

I don't have much time for people who dismiss a watch simply on the basis of how much it cost!!!!!!!

Ya tosser!

All of my watches fall into the "cheap" category. A Seiko auto diver, a Timex auto, and the real symbol of quality (not!)my Invicta Pro Diver auto which decided to stop running this morning although it's fully wound.

I think that I would like to sell all the lessor ones, but I wont get much for them, is it worht it?
I mean I even have acitizen aqualand from the 80's but could probalby only get less then 100$ for it, is it worht it to sell it?

what are your thoughts on some less expensive pieces?

I have three cheaper (~$400) Poljot, 14K Soviet watches from the 1970s -- quite beautiful pieces and surprisingly accurate, at that. I enjoy wearing them no less than my Rolex and Jaeger-LeCoultre.

JDC- That Omega is awesome. I've been looking for something like that for a while myself but have been unable to find anything like that. I'm looking for a vintage Omega in as good of a condition as yours.

Yessir!

In fact I spend most of my time checking out affordable divers on WUS forum nowadays!!!

I wouldn't be comfortable at all owning 5-6 watches all costing over £4K each. But owning one or two expensive pieces mixed with a few much more affordable numbers allows me to indulge my hobby without bankrupcy or pangs of guilt.

Some of my favourite affordable makes are listed below:

- Precista
- Seiko
- Benarus
- Prometheus

Ingersoll, Seiko and Citizen are the three "affordable" brands...

However, Seiko KING does cost like a Rolex...

My latest "cheap watch" acquisition (Hamilton Khaki King Scuba Quartz) is apparently in good company...

Wikipedia - "Swatch Group is the world's largest watch company, and the Group has accelerated its acquisition of Swiss luxury brands in recent years. The Swatch Group owns the following brands: Breguet, Blancpain, Jaquet Droz, Glashütte Original, Léon Hatot, Omega, Tiffany & Co., Rado, Longines, Union Glashütte, Tissot, Calvin Klein, Certina, Mido, Pierre Balmain, Hamilton, Flik Flak and Endura."

I find it interesting that people (IMHO) find it harder to justify only owning expensive watches but if you look to other things for example cars, Do you think that someone who owns a ferrari and a mercedes would drive a chrysler PT cruiser on occasion? By the way I have a PT loser but my wife has the Mercedes, and I have the watches!!! Don't get me wrong I have less expensive watches, one of my favorites is my Hamilton Auto Chrono that I paid a grand for 8 years ago and I wear it regularly but if I was rich....... I'd still have the Hamilton but it probably wouldn't get much wear.
