Do you even own one, let alone have held it in your hands? It’s not unproportionate at all. Rolex upgraded everything about it. The black 116 looks outdated compared to the new reference

I own the 116500 black and 126500 white. The slimmer asymmetrical case on the 116500 looks better vs the bulkier symetrical case on the 126500. For everything I prefer the 126500 and think it’s an upgrade

far prefer speedmaster to the small daytona, although i think the 11 series daytona is great for my wife or daughter, looks much better on them and might be the future for that series

Welcome? Ive been here longer than you pal. Would really love your thoughts on every watch you don’t like. It would be so valuable to TRF. Maybe you could start a thread on each model you dislike. Adios……

Quick update now that I’ve had the chance to try on the 126500LN black dial.
The symmetrical lug profile and other minor cosmetic revisions elevates the overall look of the watch. It is, imho, a big improvement over the previous generation 116500LN. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

It's not for me though, simply because of the reasons stated in a number of other posts. But if someone wanted to give me a Daytona I'd take it and keep it only because of the movement. Probably wouldn't wear it though.

Forums are a place for discussion, we cannot all agree on everything and there is no reason why one of us shouldn't start an objective discussion about something they dislike. I thought that the whole thread had been pretty well balanced, some good points on both sides.

There are some very thin-skinned Rolex owners around.
At the end of the day ... buy a watch which pleases YOU, not anyone else, because you are the person who will be looking at it.

For those bothered by other’s negative opinions of your favorite watch, consider:
* opinions are like a$sholes, everybody’s got ‘em * Taylor Swift outsells your favorite band * look back at what people thought was in good taste, en masse, in prior years * consider herd mentality and pile-on (and pile-off) behavior * Invicta is still in business When you consider the above, hopefully you can step back and allow the views of others to peacefully co-exist with your own, even if they clearly have (to you) inferior taste. |

When any manufacturer makes changes to an iconic model that does not automatically mean the old one is outdated. We have several example from Rolex, Porsche 911, etc that prove that with time some older models of iconic references continue to be the best, the old 116500 will never be outdated in my opinion. This doesn't mean the new 126500 isn't good.

I owned a 997.1 C2S manual tranny for four years. The 3.8L engine did not blow up. It's still my favourite recent-ish 911 - the newer ones are like limos in comparison.

I’ll be getting the 126500LN black dial Daytona after all. Sharp looking watch and solid workhorse movement.
