I gather that Langhe in its present form has been around for just over 20 years. I find it amazing that they are considered on a par with PP in so short a time. It's one thing to make beautiful watches, another to market their watches so well that they have gotten to this pinnacle so fast. Any thoughts they were able to market themselves so effectively?

I think when market is the biggest part of your success then it takes longer but when quality and beautiful dials are added then you take off like a rocket!

The company was founded in the 17th century by Fedrinand Adolph Lange.

It was dismissed by the German communist regime in the 1950s and then reopened by the Lange family in 1994. So technically the company exists only for about two decades but in practice it has a great history.

Actually, 19th century - founded in 1845.

Of course you're right! I should pay more attention when I write. BTW, the 1815 Line is named after the founder's birth year.

That Pour Le Merite is my one true grail. I haven't seen another watch I like as much. The ALS Perpetual Tourbillon is probably the closest to a second place though...

Nope, just my heavily modified AMS Nissan GT-R Alpha 10. Unless you consider off-roading in a Jeep Rubicon exotic....

Yep, agree re the latter. I don't think you responded to my earlier question of pricing for this model. Any views?

I think it is boutique only. If so, then retail price only.

I'm not sure. I was offered one last spring, but I don't recall now.

The US List for the 720.025 is $341900. I do not believe that it is a Boutique only piece as I was offered one from a non-boutique AD.

I posted a thread earlier regarding a Lange event in NYC this past Thursday. Mr Anthony De Haas of Lange was actually sporting a Lange Toubillion Perpetual at the event. I spent some time looking at it and was quite surprised at how simple and uncluttered the dial was for such a complicated piece. I was "baiting" Mr. de Haas as to when they will be coming out with the non-Tourbillion version of that perpetual model as I told him i thought it would be a big seller, given the obvious cost reduction with the absence of the Tourbillion. He was quite coy and wouldn't give any hint if I was on the right track.

Personally , I think I am.

Time will tell.

In fitting fashion, I bought myself a 1815 a few years ago for my 30th birthday, which yes - was Adolph Lange's age when he started Lange & Sohne.
