yeah although to be fair so few people will probably get these it doesn't even matter but it definitely still feels like it's less special now. don't hate the monotone look though, especially the salmon color, and it reminds me of the 15305 now. still probably prefer the old 15407 otherwise though

They’re all stunning. I’m excited to see real pictures of the new ceramic and yellow gold.

Regardless, from a design standpoint it is interesting to consider that the contrasting color of one piece compared to previous 15305 is what characterized the piece as amazing in many people’s eyes. However, the 26735st, 16204bc, and others (none of which I could ever be allocated) don’t have this design element but reign supreme. Time (and live pictures) will tell how the new pieces measure up, but it’s possible AP will take heed of our gripes and surprise with a new release in the future. |

Didn't the new CEO only start coming into the office at the end of last year? I'm pretty sure you can still blame FHB for this release, if you're so inclined. I seem to recall the AP operates on a ~5 year product planning schedule, so it'll all be FHBs fault for a while longer

Having now seen them all in the flesh I would only consider the yellow gold version and feel the original steel and ceramic versions are much nicer in my view than the new ones in those materials. Reason: the gold movements are too uniform (ie monotone) and as a result look “flat” and slightly lack the visual depth of the anthracite versions.
Just my view of course.

Very cool comparison vid, thank you. Not like I'm ever going to be offered one but having seen the videos I prefer the older ones. The new ones are of course nice but I think the rose gold is way too blingy and screams too much "look I have an AP"!!! Of course I assume for a certain clientele that's part of the appeal. Nothing stealthy about it at all. Now if rose gold would be switched out with sand gold that may be a different story... |

It's entertaining for me to see the contrast on Ceramic piece. With limited 150 pcs, they are definitely more difficult to get than the current 15416ce.

I can see what you mean here Roger, but I'd still love to see both "old" and "new" (together if possible) before deciding. Will you go for the Yellow Gold one? |

No I won’t Gareth I already have the original steel and the frosted white gold versions so don’t want or need a third. I am not a huge YG fan but of the three new ones it is my preferred model for the aforementioned reason.

Found a nice side by side video of the CE’s…. here’s a screen shot, maybe someone can help me out. It’s the 6th video in his reels. (not my Instagram)

I’m still processing the visual effect of each piece, but it just occurred to me: isn’t the dial of the yellow gold essentially the same as the 15305 openwork?
The hands on the current YG version is brighter, but the remainder is very very close. Again, just going on picture comparisons for now. |

This looks like a farewell batch to get rid of the remaining movements. We’ll probably see the new architecture for the 150th.

I was told that the prior models are discontinued.

Totally different watches (or at least as different as they could possibly be with the same case and same basic movement architecture).

It appears that their use of gold does seem to accentuate the overall openworked architecture. Admittedly, in the metal the previous anthracite versions demonstrate the openworkings nicely, so I am curious to see what the gold effect is IRL compared to my impression from pictures.

Personally I love the bridge in the old model and the overall look is stunning. The new gold dial looks nice but just from the picture there may be not enough of depth and contrast. And that is why I like 15407 more than the 39mm jumbo Openwork.
