Rolex is doing a great job at protecting the brand. This forum is a good confirmation of that, a Rolex watch is so much more than just a watch to many here, due to the excellent marketing strategy.

Significantly rising the price of SS models would make people look elsewhere, making people wait is less outrageous. Either way, expensive (or hard to get) are essential attributes of any luxury item.

And those who don't care about exclusivity or value retention and focus on functionality instead buy apple watches anyway ;-)
