How do you find it wears on the wrist? Too small or just right? Been looking at the black dial that just came out for something more dress orientated and classy.

It actually feels perfect on the wrist. I have a 6.3" wrist. I did see see someone with the black recently and he had a larger wrist but still looked amazing. I may get the black as well down the road. If Muhammad Ali can pull it off, I think anyone can

That's the medium (You can tell the size of this because it has no date window).

Michelle, my wallet wishes you wouldn’t have started this thread.
I had a Cartier cle de about 6 yrs. ago but traded it; I wish I wouldn’t have done that now. I know my end game will be a watch with Roman numerals, I just can’t decide between Cartier or Rolex. Tank vs. Santos or Datejust. No rush…I have years, to decide.

My question to you would be is the quartz movement in the Cartier Tank worth $3,000+; and what would be the trade off in price going automatic with Cartier vs. Rolex. Which brand has the more robust/ reliable movement, or are you paying for brand recognition?

btw: I’d love to see an updated pic of your amazing collection you’ve acquired

Regards!

I went down the Cartier rabbit hole rather quickly. Went form 0 to 4 in less than 2 years.
I have no issues with the 3k ish price for a Tank quartz. I absolutely love my Blue Must. I've thought abut the black version as well or the Tank Louis black in YG. That is Manual wound. I am a huge Rolex fan but for some reason I don't like Romans on the DJ. I much prefer it on Cartier. Of course as you can see by my Cartier collection, no numbers at all for a Tank is my favorite.
I do think Rolex is more robust. With Cartier you are paying more for design IMO.
I will will post a pic of my collection again at some point. It is ever changing.

I am guilty of that as well. I don’t have any of the watches across the years since I started buying in 1996. It all started with a modest ladies 2 tone Officer’s Swiss Army watch. All now are newish/modern ones now. Looking forward to seeing your latest collection!

Regards!

Cartier has some of the most beautiful designs in the industry, close to VC for me, but the fact so many of their pieces are still quartz is a bad look on the brand to me. I can understand having steel tanks and some other smaller, women's watches in steel be quartz given the market for those watches is less likely to care about the internals...but the fact that gold tanks are still being made with quartz and going for 10K USD is a stain on the brand.

Further, the quality of the time pieces is not what I would expect for what you pay for. I picked up the new Santos medium steel a few months ago and was very dissapointed with the movement accuracy as well as the weight, or lack there of, of the bracelet. There is just too much competition in the watch industry today for Cartier to not offer better quality here. Especially with the move to in house movements on the Santos, one should expect a more accurate time piece for example. Its such a shame because the designs are so classic.

Blancpain seems more your style:

"Since 1735 there has never been a Quartz Blancpain watch. And there never will be!"

hahaha! Honestly, its not so much that Quartz ever being used by a brand is a dealbreaker for me, as that would eliminate Rolex, AP, Patek, etc. The issue is that they continue to use quartz on high end precious metal watches. The sunlight powered tank must, as short-lived as it was, was a step in the right direction of offering something a little more "alive" than a quartz piece. I just cant get over how they make gold tank's with quartz movements TODAY.

Plus as I stated, there are other quality concerns on their non-quartz watches that undermine the brand for me. I wish it wasn't;t the case as the Santos is a stunner of a watch.

Just pickup this WSSA0017 and I’m loving it so far. Great for a larger wrist and still feels like a Cartier

I dropped of my Tank Francaise, 18 k WG at the Cartier boutique in Las Vegas. Getting a full service and also requested a new strap. I said I wanted the short strap rather than the regular length. My concierge measured the existing strap, regular length, then asked about hole spacing on the new short. Since it’s a special order it will take some time, but it will be attached when the service is complete. Cost for the strap $375.00. The service is estimated at $550.00

Thank you! Took advantage of the strong dollar and got a great deal in Europe after negotiating.

The reference is 2554. It is from the 2005 Privee collection.

That is indeed a classy piece.
Is this the large size? (I think that’s the largest)
But did you find the strap to be a little stiff at the start?
