I was looking at watches 2 years ago at an AD and the SA was wearing one. After talking for awhile, he let me try it on. He said “I can see your Ian enthusiast.” First two thoughts were, “So this is the watch all the fuss is over”, and secondly, “Yeah, I need to have this someday.” Side note… I never thought it looked small or for a woman on my 7” flat wrist. White dial DJ41. It was never really in my radar, but found it stunning in person.

I thought the same thing, until I had dinner with a friend. He had one and it looks great in all different light. Made me wish I picked one up.

Another vote for the Yacht-Master 42.
It looks far better in the real world away from harsher lights that you often see in photos and in the dealer. It's a mass of contradictions though it wears a good amount larger than a 40mm Rolex as the bezel and dial colours run together but It's quite thin so fits under a sleeve. It has been called stealthy as the colour scheme is muted but it's sure impressive and noticeable on your wrist. It doesn't feel like any other Rolex to me. The sd43 is a lot thicker and the 42mm explorer ii much less dressy. I can't quite articulate why i like it so much... It's a dressy sports watch that reminds of the Aquanaut. |

116710LN GMT-Master II - I thought the all black bezel might look boring but it has a nice deep gloss and the typeface of the numbers provides a nice contrast (platinum inlaid numbers). It is sufficiently different from the Submariner. Combined with the maxi case, maxi dial and polished centre links, the watch looks blingy (but not overly so).
