Great size. I wore a Datejust for over 30 years and size was just fine.

It’s my favorite watch, for my 7 1/2 wrist.

With a 6.75" wrist I've worn 40mm GMTs comfortably for decades and still do. Recently I decided to buy a DJ 36 Turn-O-Graph for more formal occasions and love the way it looks and feels on my wrist. It's the classic size for a Datejust. I think a 34 would also work well. I agree the fluted bezel makes watches look bigger.

I'm hoping that Rolex comes out with a 38mm Datejust. It would keep up with the growing number of people that want larger watches. IMO, I think that the 41mm Datejust is just too big for a dress watch.

As usual it is a matter of personal taste, but I disagree with those that say that the DJ 36 is more elegant than the DJ 41 (that measures approx 39.5 mm) or that it is the perfect size.
Can we agree that Patek Calatrava, Lange Saxonia Thin, Lange 1815 and the Vacheron Traditionnelle are 4 of the most elegant dress watches on the market? Well their case diameter is between 37 mm and 39 mm. And again in the 1970s when Genta launched the SS dress / sporty watches, designed the Royal Oak with 39 mm case and the Nautilus with 40 mm case. |

The pic above looks great to me.
I think it matters how tall you are as well. 2 guys with the same diameter wrist will look different if one is is 6ft and the other 5ft. I am 6ft 2 with a 6.5 wrist. My dj36 looks great in wrist shots imo, however in a full length mirror it does look on the small side. Still love it though. |

36mm is a great size, and will surely come back big time in a few years, 41mm datejusts look terrible.

I’m 6’2, 218lbs, with a 7 1/2 wrist. My 36mm white dial DateJust is my favorite watch. It’s classy, and understated. No, it’s not too small.

Think your physical size and wrist determine the outcome. I'm 6'1" 255lbs and 36mm is just too small for me. JMHO

36mm is small unless you are are also small. 41mm is big if you are small.

DJ36 is the benchmark, Rolex has attained a perfect balance that is unmatched.
Think of Porsche mastering the 911. I think it's a fair comparison, the unmistakable silhouette you know what it is from a mile away. |

Depends on the hand size. Go to local boutique and try on 36mm and 41mm.

Size is obviously personal preference and your wrist/eyes will get use to anything over time.
My wife wears a 36mm date just and I feel it fits her perfectly. |

Edited to add only watch that was perfect out of the box with no links removed - not that necessarily means anything but was a bonus ;) |

Felt the same way but the 36 DJs grew on me. Such a classic piece. And I have a 7.5 wrist

I find 36 too small for me but I do like a larger case. But you said you wear a 6.5 so 36 should be perfect for you.

Hi OP,
It really comes down to personal preference and what you like. Most will of course say 36 as it is an iconic size. I have as 6.75 inch wrist and a DJ36 felt/looked way too small and feminine. This was also the input I received after showing it to multiple people - most agreed with me, while a couple felt it was perfect. But as I mentioned it really just comes down to what you prefer on your wrist, both are completely fine. I ended up ordering a DJ 41 with a White Roman dial ref 126334. Keep in mind the DJ41 measures at a tad under 40mm (around 39.5mm). |

A datejust 36 on my 6.5 inch wrist will look like a datejust 41 on a basketball players wrist. In my view, as a dressier watch, the bracelet has to be shown on the top of the wrist to give this watch justice. It just looks wrong when all you see is the lugs.
