Adaptation from Fear and Loathing
We had two BNIB DDII, seventy-five vintage subs, five daytona’s of differing metals, a bottle half-full of Loctite 221, and a whole galaxy of multi-colored stella dials on day-dates... Also, a DSSD, a YG Yachtmaster II, a CERN Milgauss, a new Platona, and two dozen Oyster-Perpetuals. Not that we needed all that for the trip, but once you get locked into a serious watch collection, the tendency is to push it as far as you can. The only thing that really worried me was the Platona. There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of a Platona binge, and I knew we'd wear that rotten thing pretty soon. |

Juliet: O, Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thy Rolex, Romeo.
Deny thy father's Tag and refuse thy PP. Or, if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love. And I'll no longer wear a LV. Romeo: Shall I wear the Rolex or shall I speak at the IWC? Juliet: 'Tis but thy AP that is thy enemy; Thou art thyself, though not wearing a Breguet. What's a Breguet, It is not hand nor foot, Nor arm nor face, nor any other part Belonging to a man. O, be some other name! What's in a name? That which we call a Rolex By any other name would work as well. . . .

Morpheus: Unfortunately, no one can be told what a Rolex is. You have to see it for yourself.

[Neo sees a black Submariner in an AD, and then a similar Black Sub just like the first one]
Neo: Whoa. Déjà vu. [Everyone freezes right in their tracks] Trinity: What did you just say? Neo: Nothing. Just had a little déjà vu. Trinity: What did you see? Cypher: What happened? Neo: A black sub I. The shop , and then another that looked just like it. Trinity: How much like it? Was it a vintage sub? Neo: It might have been. I'm not sure. Morpheus: Switch! Apoc! Neo: What is it? Trinity: A déjà vu is usually a glitch in among WIS. It happens when Rolex changes something.

Foley: Hey, Mayo, why don't we quit this little charade over a couple of Speedmasters at the Omega AD? You're as close to being Rolex material as me.
Mayo: This candidate believes he would make a good Rolex AD! Foley: You only give a shit about yourself. All your fellow TRF’ers know it. Do you think they would trust you behind the counter of a Rolex boutique? You'd probably zip off with my stainless Daytona and sell it to the grey market. Mayo: No, sir! No, sir! I love the Rolex brand. Foley: Sell it to a trusted dealer, Mayo. Why would a slick hustler like you sign up for this abuse? Mayo: I want to sell Rolex. Foley: My grandmama wants to sell Rolex. Mayo: I've always wanted it! Foley: We're not talking about sales. We're talking about character. Mayo: I've changed, sir. Foley: The hell you have. Mayo: I've changed, sir! Foley: You've just polished your act. You've shined it up! Tell me what I want to hear. I want your SPF. Mayo: I ain't going to quit. Foley: Spell it! S-P-F. Mayo: I ain't gonna quit! Foley: Then you and your daddy can get drunk and go Hublot-chasing together! Mayo: No, sir! I ain't going to quit! Foley: Then forget it. You're out! Mayo: Don't you do it! Don't...you... I got nowhere else to go! I got nowhere else to go! I ain't got nothing else. I got nothing else. Foley: All right, Mayo. On your feet. Come on, Mayo, let's get back to the forum. |

I'm saying it because it's true. Inside of us, we both know you need that Pepsi GMT. You use it in your work, you're the thing that keeps it going. If that plane leaves the ground and you don't have it, you'll regret it. Maybe not today. Maybe not tomorrow, but soon and for the rest of your life.

Just watched this today.
Are you sure that's a Rolex? Yeah. Are you positive? I don't know. You don't know if you're positive? I don't know what positive means. It means you're sure. Yeah. Yeah what? Yeah, I'm sure that's a Rolex. |

Club Owner: No… what is a fugazi? Donnie: Come on, you know. Club Owner: Don’t you tell me what I know. Donnie: You know what you did pal. Lefty: One o’ youse gotta be wrong. Club Owner: That’s a GMT Master II with blue and black ceramic bezel. Left, that is my wife’s f-ing Rolex watch. Donnie: It’s a fugazi Left. |

Egon:
I'm worried, Ray. It's getting crowded in TRF and all my data points to something big on the horizon. Winston: What do you mean, big? Egon: Well, let's say this Submariner represents the normal amount of psychokinetic energy in the New York RSC. Based on this morning's sample, it would be a Submariner... thirty-five feet long, weighing approximately six hundred pounds...a "HULK". |

D.A. Jim Trotter: Ms. Vito, what is your current profession?
Lisa: I'm an out-of-work hairdresser. D.A. Jim Trotter: An out-of-work hairdresser. In what way does that qualify you as an expert in Rolex Watches? Lisa: It doesn't. -------------- Vinny Gambini: Ms. Vito, it has been argued by me, the defense, that two sets of guys met up at the Sac-O-Suds, at the same time, wearing identical metallic stainless steel 1964 Rolex Cosmograph Daytonas. Now, can you tell us by what you see in this picture, if the defense's case holds water? Mona Lisa Vito: [Lisa examines the picture] Vinny Gambini: Ms. Vito, please answer the question: does the defense's case hold water? Mona Lisa Vito: No! The defense is WRONG! Vinny Gambini: Are you sure? Mona Lisa Vito: I'm positive. Vinny Gambini: How could you be so sure? Mona Lisa Vito: Because there is no way that these dials are originally for the 1964 Stainless steel Rolex Cosmograph "Daytona". These dials were original made for the 1963 Stainless Steel Rolex Cosmograph "Le Mans". D.A. Jim Trotter: Objection, Your Honor! Can we clarify to the court whether the witness is stating opinion or fact? Judge Chamberlain Haller: [to Lisa] This is your opinion, or is it a fact? Mona Lisa Vito: It's a fact! Vinny Gambini: I find it hard to believe that this kind of information could be ascertained simply by looking at a picture! Mona Lisa Vito: Would you like me to explain? Vinny Gambini: I would *love* to hear this! Judge Chamberlain Haller: So would I! |
