What parts? Dial is obviously service. Anyway, if it floats your boat: enjoy it. I don't like this look.

Well, I realise that it's not a purist solution, but I really like it. Well done for persevering with it, too.

I guess the risk would be the uncertainty of getting the same result. I know what you mean though.

I like it! TBO, I’m not a vintage guy yet. Perhaps one day I’ll become a purist, but for now I prefer watches to have a newer look. Funny that these vintage Rolexes cost so little when new and cost more than new ones now. The recently auctioned PN is mind blowing.

This Sub now looks fantastic and is super cool, but I'm not sure about its appeal/value in the world of vintage watch collecting.
OP did not purchase this watch as an investment, at least this is my understanding.
Congratulations and enjoy...

Congrats and well done for perusing it, people give up too easy these days.

Are the red dials the same as white but just red lettering? If so, do you think they make them to order rather than sending stock to local centres? Might explain why some service centres think they don’t exist, ie not in their stock maybe?

If this is the case, surely you could pursue almost any sub restoration with the right contact at HQ?

What amazed me was the amount of people that thought it was such a bad deal in the first place, I thought these red subs were silly money? One guy even said “send it back, there’s a store near me with one for $5500” over here you wouldn’t get a beaten normal sub for that.

The original "assessment" fee was waived and I was given an additional discount for the extended time it took to get the watch back to me. (9 months)

The total was significantly less than I had anticipated when I originally sent the watch in.
this may look a lot at first, but surely worth it.

Just a note to say that I was at the RSC in Toronto and was told that getting a red service luminova dial was no problem.

Did they mention if they stock the dials or do they come from Geneve?

He didn’t say, but I admired his candour. He advised me to not consider it with my dial as mine is well preserved (i wasn’t by the way). He also said it would be expensive. He also said he wouldn’t advise polishing a vintage piece like mine. Pretty unusual for RSC. I’ve heard others have had good experiences with vintage pieces at RSC Toronto.

Actually, I. Elie RBI’s words were “we can get them” so that suggests to me that they would have to get them from Genčve HQ.
