I agree that they are large and out of scale.

Wished they were smaller. Still bought a bunch.

I used to think the numbers were too big. Now I appreciate them. Easy to see at a glance and the font style is classier than the older ones. Plus the ceramic bezel just looks sharper and more modern. Overall a crisper look.

I am interested in what that cost and how it looks. The BBGMT needs a micro adjustment. At least for me.

Tudor is awesome. I think I will prefer this new GMT over rolex as daily wear too but I am not a fan of those gilt accents. Black dial, white hour markers and any bezel (black, coke or pepsi) and I it is the perfect watch.

Nothing like Rolex GMT, Tudor is great but not a Rolex , I own a BB GMT Pepsi bezel love it and wear it allot.

Whatever makes you happy on your wrist can be both.

Cheers!

I totally get where you're coming from. The Tudor GMT has that rugged charm and practicality that makes it super appealing, especially for travel. Sometimes less flashy is more enjoyable for everyday wear. Enjoy your Tudor and have a great weekend!

I think they are both lovely watches. Familiarity breeds contempt and its natural to like a newer watch more. Personally I prefer the Rolex, but the Tudor is somewhat lower key and good to wear in a t-shirt in more challenging urban environments. Although I use my IWC Pilot for this :)

Correct.

I can't understand anyone preferring the clunker, but hey we're all different. I wish Rolex would head-hunt whoever's in charge of design at Tudor.

The tudors are missing the crown guards, and the GMT is too thick, if they got rid of the domed crystal and gold numbers I’d be in. I do like the price and the matte bezels, it makes them under the radar cool. I’m guessing they don’t want to step on the Rolex brand so they do it differently but those things I mentioned are why I’m in line like a bunch of others.

I own a really nice planet ocean and the things I mentioned about the Tudor are on my Omega. It’s too thick being the one thing that bothers me the most.
I hear you. I have a BB54 and it's currently getting more wrist time than my 41mm Submariner.

Thanks for all the comments guys,

Well!.. a bit of an update for you;

I've sold the BLNR!

Long story short a family member has been trying to get one for years and I thought you know what, it was a grail for me but i'm happy to let a family member have the pleasure of it. I sold it for the RRP I paid circa 2 years ago.

It's funny, it doesn't feel as if i've gotten rid of it, since it's still 'in the family'.

Still loving the '58 GMT, it brings me more joy than I think the Rolex did and feels good rationalising the collection somewhat.

You sold the only watch that IMO is worth keeping and the best of the SS Rolex. At the end of the day it is what you like most! My BLNR on jubilee is the best watch I have ever owned, over the TT CHNR, 126613LB, the 114060 and 124060, 126610LN and LV, and DJ 41 fluted jubilee white, black and blue. At the end of the day that is why makes Rolex great as they make favorites for everyone. I respect you, you sold a legend, probably made money, and got the watch YOU want. That is all that matters. Congrats!

OP, I too sold my BLNR a while ago, primarily because it was getting less wrist time and I was considering getting a 16710 again. Then a couple of days after I sold it Tudor announced the BB58 GMT, and now I'm waiting for one from the AD.

I have to reserve full judgment on the watch and this general thought process I've been having until I get watch and wear it. But I have a BB54 that I dare say I enjoy wearing more than my 41mm Sub.

As a guy that probably prefers the older Rolex 5-digit aesthetic and sizing, but strongly prefers to buy newer watches and appreciates some of the newer tech (like Glidelock/T-Fit), it's getting kinda hard justifying Rolex over Tudor for some of these models. Esp because Tudor has committed to smaller/thinner sizing to match the vintage aesthetic.

IF I keep the BB54 and BB58 GMT and end up selling the Sub, I would essentially have gone from a Sub/BLNR combo to the Tudor combo. And I'm thinking it might actually be the right move for me.

I think when one started collecting with the 5 digit models it is easier to appreciate the current Tudor aesthetic and what it offers. I think you’ll love the 58 GMT and hope it comes in soon for you.

It’s funny, there’s been a few responses in this thread saying it’s too thick, but I don’t think everyone realises this is a totally new model with new movement and case dimensions.

I don’t think it counts as flipping. I have sold the watch to a family member who has been on the list with their AD for a long time with no sign of one showing up. I sold it for what I bought it for and have the pleasure of seeing it being enjoyed on a loved one’s wrist.

Thing is once ya move past Rolex, you'll realize that most Rolex is for show where as other brands are really the ones that "sing to ya".

I love my sub and saved up years for it (got it at AD). And now getting batman end of this year but I bought a Panerai some months back and its taken over my sub as a daily driver. I swap the straps to rubber/leather at will and the large 44mm sandwich dial really sings to me. I haven't worn my sub as much since I got my Panerai.

Rolex -> to make a social statement
Other Brands -> ya wear it cos ya love it.
