I think the smooth bezel DJ II is all SS , not WG. The WG is only on the fluted bezel model. Smooth bezel is a lot cheaper for that reason too. It's a great deal!

I think the popularity of the Rolex sports models has had more to do with the cosmetics of the 40mm case size than anything else. Most Submariners are never used for diving. I expect the Datejust II to continue to gain popularity.

I am looking at the DJII TT with slate dial and green roman. My only hang up is the stick marker at the 9 o'clock position. Anyone have any idea why they did this and not just a roman 9?

Thanks for the review

Two cents added: I have the two toned 116333 slate dial, green Roman numerals Datejust II (DJ II)

I wear it with a suit and also on a night out with a Polo and khakis! I almost bought a pre-owned Day-Date president instead. But the 36 mm (IMO) really lacks wrist presence in comparison, I just could not buy it.

My co-worker has strutted around our office for awhile with a steel Submariner. It is a nice watch, but the 18k yellow gold my DJ II is slapping him around a bit :).

Nicely written review. I got mine about a year ago and still love it. I think I've changed watches less than 10 times since I got it. It's too comfortable. And I like looking at it.

DJ2 is such a nice watch, it goes very well with casual dresses as well as formal dresses. i find 116334 better than 116333. and the best dial i would rate in 116334 is blue plain index and black plain index...

i too have tried the 36mm DJ many times and have always felt "something was missing"..... and i wanted to wait for the DJII to try before purchasing a DJ of some sort. for me, the DJII just felt "proper" for my 7.25" wrist. as soon as i tried 2 DJIIs on (1 x SS and 1 x TT), put the deposit down for a TT.

here is my 116333

You have a great watch! Would compliment mine wonderfully...

Datejust II - How it happened

The desire to own a Rolex was always there within me but the intention definitely wasn't .On June 29 th ,I just walked into the Muscat Rolex Boutique as working in Oman and the result of that great effort to understand more on the brand ended in this and I'm glad it happened this way :image.jpg

Proud to own it ,with love to from a new Indian member to this forum

I'm surprised that Rolex have killed off this watch.

Whilst the DJ41 replaces it, the slightly oversized styling of the DJ2 gives it a great and unique look IMO. Particularly the baton dial versions with the larger batons.....just looks right to me.

Am now looking for one before they disappear from the AD windows for good.

I agree with you. IMO the DJ2 looks the more modern watch, while the DJ41 looks dated. The design of the DJ2 is perfect.

I agree as well, the larger batons help give it more of a sporty feel to it. I think it is Easier to dress down than the DJ41, yet still has the ability to dress up just as easily.
Was sad to see the white dial, however happy that i found one

And now it sounds like the DJ41 will be nixed after a single one year run... nothing is certain of course regarding Basel, but sure sounds like it..

Wow the Limited edition dial. NICE! I believe the DJII is more for bigger people. I, myself, weigh 230 lbs and it fits perfect on my wrist, but when my brother tries it on it's huge! I wish I had a smaller wrist and frame I would've saved a lot more money by just getting the DJ 16233

Where did you hear this??? That's news to me. I'd be shocked if that happened.

Anyway, love my DJII. Considered flipping until I saw a DJ41 in the flesh. Really happy I held on to my DJII fluted blue baton. Now that it's discontinued I think it will be thought of as a classic in a few years.
