Here's my take. The ceramic is stunning. I'm now sitting on a DeepSea D-Blue. I have the SS Daytona and I will be honest... the DeepSea really has a hard time leaving my wrist. The presence is just very solid.

I am floored by the Daytona SS-C. It is a very nice watch but it'd need to PROBABLY be an addition and not a replacement. The SS is so much more classy but I will say that the white faced SS-C is a thing of beauty. The reason why I bring up that DeepSea D-Blue is the ceramic bezel is a look that is best served up on that beast. Scratched or not (which it cleans up well if you know what you are doing...) the SS Daytona is hard to resist for it's classic look.

May... have... to... splurge...though...

My girlfriend has been trying to steal my SS Daytona. She seems to really approve of the new look. Then again, it may be a ruse to get me off my Daytona. These women are so tricky now days. She'll force me to buy it at least that's how I put the spin... "she made me do it... I'm so weak..."

Both good looking watches. I had a chance to buy a Daytona many a time over the last 4 years by passed for three reasons. The bezel scratches, the size and the sub-dial colour/legibility.

The new one has fixed two of the issues and the ceramic bezel may make the size appear larger.

So the new one goes straight in my basket!

Both look great.

One of the main reasons I've not acquired a Daytona, even though it's 40mm was that it looked too small on my wrist (8"). The black bezel solves that issue for me.

Another vote for the SS. On Wednesday I got carried away in the initial hype and even mailed my AD to reserve a SSC but now I'm thinking hmmmmmm. The SS just looks like a far more polished (pun intended) watch in my eyes. Reckon I'll stick with my white dial SS and SubC combination 😉

It's probably my new favorite SS Rolex by far. Blockbuster for Rolex.
I'm with you. I don't like the shiny bezel of the previous Daytonas is either SS nor WG or YG. The Ceramic bezel is a huge step forward by going back to the look of the past which I much prefer. I put my name on the list with my AD for SS white today at 6:32pm. By that time I was already number 6! Bummer. Hopefully the people ahead of me change their minds. I've been really busy and didn't even realize the new release had happened until Rick "Invstr" texted me. He's number #1 on the list in Houston. Russell.

Ceramic for the win. Looks a lot sharper and good contrast.

I'm really liking the ceramic. Seems a lot easier to read also, at least from all the pictures I've seen.

Much prefer the SS bezel. More elegant and classy. Ceramic is more sporty. Both are beautiful but 116520 all the way for me.

I was looking at the history of the Daytona and the four digit references in particular and there is a mixture of acrylic and steel bezels which give that different look. I think the new ceramic versions are just a modern take on that to be honest and could quite happily work side by side with the steel.

I think it's the evolution not revolution process which Rolex seems to do so well at work again.

Glad I sold my TT Daytona a month ago, I think the ceramic will certainly impact the old no matter how much we all loved it.

I wonder if I will be able to get my hands on a new ceramic bezel and install it on my 116520?

The ceramic SS daytona definitely has a sportier look to it - personally i prefer the original Daytona as for me its more of an evening wear and classier - that said I've just put myself on the waiting list for the ceramic :)

I think the SSC will go well with my 16520 Zenith Daytona which I got because I felt they would only become harder to find.

I really prefer the subdials on the SSC also. The bezel is much more readable than the SS bezel. In re: to the SSC looking sportier or less classic. Dr. Tom maybe able to weigh in on this with more authority but as a lay person I am pretty sure Auto Racing qualifies as a Sport and therefore I'm pretty sure the Daytona is supposed to be first and foremost a Sport watch not first and foremost a dress watch. This is finally getting back to the Daytona's roots after having taken a "U-turn" and going down a different path for too many years.
Dr. Russell.

The new black ceramic on the black face looks outstanding. More masculine and powerful in my opinion. At first the white face captivated me but now I think black is the winner. In the end, Rolex wins because demand will be huge yet the old version still has a following..

Little torn. Like them both. I have planned on adding a chrono to my collection but have been more focused on a four digit reference. I need to see the 116500 in the flesh before I can decide. Guess I will be waiting awhile on this....

I'd go with a great 4 digit if you can find it and swing it.
