Congratulations on your addition. I was 26 when I picked up my first in 1997, GMT II Coke bezel. Sold it in 2016

My first was a DateJust, steel jubilee and white gold fluted bezel. That was in 1983 and I was 12.
The watch was 1500 gulden (Dutch currency) and I saved for it by working weekends and holidays

I'm only 32 now. I have a terrible memory. It was my first and I made some significant memories while wearing it. From taking care of my terminally ill mom to burying my beloved pet. It was there for all that. Funny how I remember the bad things more than the good.

Congrats and wear it in good health! I bought a similar looking TT Datejust when I was 25 and kept it for 36 years until I gave it to my son when he turned 25 I am certain that watch will work great for you. Thanks for sharing!

I was 20 years old and it was a GMT Coke which I got for £1100 in 1996

Sold it a few years later for almost double thinking I had made the deal of the century

Look at the price of them now

I got my first at around 16. Traded a nice Seiko to my father for a 16750 that he had accidentally drowned and couldn’t afford to fix properly. Kept time at around +/- 30 secs a day for a couple years until I found a good independent watchmaker to fix it. I was beyond excited to have it as mine, now that he has long passed I still am, it means so much to me.

Just bought my (technically) first Rolex at 37. I previously owned a Tudor snowflake, but I had the opportunity to purchase a long time goal watch - a 16800 from my birth year. Dial and hand patina have aged much better than I have!

Nice! Why a 93 Datejust? Are you turning 27 later this year? Is 93 your birth year?

I was 17... OP 15000

High school graduation pr sent from my parents in 1984. I really wanted a stereo, and had never heard of Rolex. 36 years later it’s still my “daily driver.” Other than the few trips back for overhauls, it has never been off my wrist for more than a few hours at a time. The last service was in 2018; the band was pretty stretched, and a link finally wore through. We’ve been through an awful lot together.

I have always wanted a TT sub, and promised myself I would get myself one for my tenth anniversary of owning my own business in 2022. I still will probably have a hard time putting my OP “ out to pasture.”

An interesting choice being in your 20's. I was also in my 20's when I got my first Rolex, a 14060M. Being in my late 30's, TT is a lot more appealing.

I was in my early 50s when I got a Rolex DSSD. This was before the James Cameron edition came out, but I prefer the all black dial anyway.

It wasn't right for me - I didn't like the overall proportions. I traded it straight up for my grail watch, a 5-digit GMT Master BLRO, so all in all it worked out.

29 years old just got it recently as well.

I also got a DJ but a very different one: current model, not 2 tone, black dial, smooth bezel, and oyster bracelet.

This is why I like the DJ so much, theres so much variety without sacrificing the identity of the watch.

I was 25 and purchased my first DJ, very similar to your. That was 36 years ago. This past year I gave my DJ to my son who just turned 25. The circle of Rolex!

Congrats and I love your choice.
