Oldest New Old Stock You've Seen

Grabbed this NOS 5513 maxi dial from 76 a few years ago. Sold it regretfully

Been told by all my vintage Rolex WIS friends that it’s the best they’ve ever seen and they still remind me that I’m stupid for selling it lol

Question - If the watch sits in a safe for a few years, wouldn't that impact the movement? Assume you would need to get it serviced before wearing?

This thread is great.

Nothing compared your stories, but I was offered a healthy discount on a 16600 Sea Dweller. It had to be 2013, because I tried on a 116610 and a Pelagos, and they offered the 16600 as an in between alternative! I think list on the Sub was 7500 at the time, so it would have been a deal. Fire up the time machine please, I left with none. I bought the Pelagos a year later from the same AD and the SD4K was out, so that 16600 had been in the case for ~5 years.

AD on Maui had 3 or 4 ETA Pelagos in their case last September, so those were likely 5 years old too.

I would bet that the longest running watch in an AD display case is a lady DateJust with an odd colored dial, possibly 2 tone, maybe with some diamonds.

How come the bracelet isn't two tone?

On another note, I prefer the black dial 116520 over the white dial.
Love it and couldn't agree with you more about the preference for 16520 White Zenith Dial to 116520 Rolex White In-House Movement Dial. The Zenith White Dial is one of my favorites.....never cared for the 116520 White Dial with Silver Sub-Dials, always seemed so boring. That's what makes the Black Dial 116520 even more outstanding!!!!

If a nos is stored from 1983, would you need to service it? I imagine the oil is already dried up inside.

Serious question. Because there are only two options, and both probably valid. Just curious what you would do, and why.
Wear very carefully
