I have a watch on my wrist no matter what... My watches are "part of me".

I used to wear one everyday but fell out of the habit in June. I don’t wear my wedding ring all the time anymore either, so not just a watch thing.

I am sorry to learn of your predicament, but I understand it. Recently, the police told me that many US cities have been experiencing a rise in daytime robberies. For several months this year, 3 men battered and robbed people on the street in my neighborhood. Their goal was yellow gold Rolexes that are quite noticeable and, oddly, plentiful (which is another story). Those 3 were caught. Anyway, I thought I was okay with my "invisible" ss SD until last month when I was attacked on a commercial street 4 blocks from home. I was rescued by a Rec & Park woman in dayglo vest who ran across the street screaming at the assailant (who had used pepper spray). Then 4 squad cars appeared with the gentlest and most polite police I have ever encountered. They even caught the perp around 3 blocks away and drove me to ID him--I was unable to do so, but he was caught on camera and the Rec & Park woman IDed him. The next day I looked her up and gave her $100 and then went to the police station with a thank you note and 10 gift cards (each under the city's limit for gifts, but those nice officers came to my building and returned them to me with their gratitude for the letter). The incident has made me appreciate civil servants more. It has also made me a bit more conscious of who is around me when I am on the streets. I started thinking maybe any Rolex, even in ss, may be too recognizable and tempting in these hard times. So I wear my FPJ instead. Take care.

In response to the OP. Yes, I wear my watch even when cooped up inside all day because otherwise it would stop.

Yeah why not? I even swap them over just for the dose of enjoyment.

Lately, I’ve been wearing my Sub during work hours and swapping to Speedmaster in the evenings. This is just for my own enjoyment. I’m in the house all the time other than grocery/food runs and dog walks.

Exactly this. My left wrist is my watch winder. I'll switch once or twice per day to keep everything running. I usually shower with whatever I'm wearing. Take it off for bedtime.

Yes of course. Watch strapped on first thing in the morning out of bed regardless of the day’s schedule.

Wear it at home? No way. It’s not safe. It may draw too much attention and I prefer something under the radar.
Just kidding. I always wear a watch at home. Seiko in the sauna and hot tub but otherwise all watches rotated and worn equally. |

Essentially, if I'm wearing pants, I'm wearing a watch. To be clear, I always wear pants except in the shower soooo...

Question: Why not in the shower, especially with a DeepSea? Would wearing it in the shower, even occasionally, help keep the interstices of the bracelet and clasp clean? Just wondering if I'm the only one who washes my watch in the shower. That goes for the pants too when I am traveling in steamy places and did not bring much clothing with me.

Ew. I had not thought of that. I must look a lot closer. In hot weather I also spray my watch with H2O2, but that won't dissolve soap residue. Thanks for pointing this out! Thanks, also, for reminding me to email my long lost friend in Nassau.

More and more I find myself needing the functionality of the GMT/2nd time zone hand on my Explorer II to help remind me of all the places that I'm not able to travel to this year while I sit around my house...
But seriously- everyday, rotate every day/every other or so, just to keep things going in some semblance of normalcy. |

Always have a watch on in the house. Wasn’t always one of my nice watches but as I get less worried about scratches the more often I’m wearing it and staring at it incessantly!

I wear mine Rolex watches 24/7, no matter if at work, at home, travelling (not so much lately). I rarely remove my watches, I keep them on even when I sleep.
Last year I had an unexpected surgery, I was at the hospital and on my way to work, wearing a Rolex Explorer and it became evident that I will have to be operated. Needless to say when I was preparing I was told by the nurse that I will have to leave the watch in the room. That's what I did, I left it at the bedside table in the hospital room, it never occurred to me that it could be stolen, and that was perhaps my last worry at that time. All was fine in the end and my watch was there for me right beside the bed where I left it. |

This! Showered with it for many years before realizing that it needed cleaning much more often due to soap scum. Now it comes off for sleep and shower.

Amen. I bought my Rolex because wearing it brings me joy - not to flex. For whatever reason, I just cant sleep with it on...just never able to get comfy. Otherwise its on unless Im working out - then the apple watch is on.
