1 Rolex and no more than 3 total watches works for me.

Currently I have a DJ, a Nomos, and a Seiko. Nice 3 watch collection under $10k is enough for me. And I dont wear the seiko much but not worth selling a $400 watch Id rather just keep it

I have multiple watches but recently added a black ceramic ss Daytona. Now I have lost interest in wearing my Hulk, Bluesy, SD43, and datejust 41. I think if i had bought the Daytona first, then my watch collection would have stopped at one watch. I paid a premium for this watch but don’t care because I love wearing it everyday. I don’t really care if i put scratches on it. Live life to the fullest!

Exactly how I was starting to feel. I broke the cycle this year and only have one watch. A 5513 that works for every occasion. I am happy with it.

I only have a DJ41 and don’t aspire to own another anytime soon. Have an omega, Breitling, Oris and will probably continue to add different brands going foward. No two of one brand yet and I am thinking would add another omega before a rolex due to pricing/scarcity + personal tastes.

Nothing wrong with three (or more) different watches, but a Submariner can definitely swing all three occasions with style!
It certainly can! For more than 25 years I've been wearing my 14060 Sub (my only Rolex) nearly every day, during all sorts of activities and wearing all sorts of clothes, leisure and formal. I've never bothered about it, and no one has ever said anything! It´s the perfect one watch for me! Tough as nails...

Better? Well it’s a personal choice…

I’d say “best”…

Best to have:
One Rolex
One Patek
One Omega
One Seiko
Etc.

Love the idea of leaving them to the kids.

I need more kids. Not sure wife would agree 😀

If I only list the ‘nice’ watches and not any of my 6 Japanese Gshocks

I have a
DaytonaC
Batman (original)
Blue Pelagos
Seiko green Sumo

For the gshocks, they are going for sale soon

A collection of luxury watches is brilliant but you do end up with favourites, mine is the Submariner, but for the first time in months it is in the watch box and I have dug my Omega Seamaster Diver out for some wrist time.

I do worry that I have too many watches (6) as some get so little wrist time, but they will be passed on to my two kids at some point in the future.

That’s on point. 4 minimum for me. Sub, gmt, Daytona, dd

I have watches for different occasions/activities such as work, formal, casual, working out, etc. I am a buy and hold person and have built a modest collection over 30 years. Hands down my Rolex sub date is my favorite but also have watches from Omega, Breitling, Tag Heuer, Seiko and a few others. I enjoy the variety but also see the advantage of having just one or two watches.

As for me, up to 3 or less, unless is a hot collector’s item then it’s “one more..”

Most people appreciate one or two watches more than numerous ones. One watch doesn’t fit lots of guys lifestyle, however. I’m one of those guys who find any kind dive watch uncomfortable with a suit. But in short sleeved days, I like a bigger watch. Also, having just a couple watches for decades is wonderful; getting a wearable piece from one’s father is awesome. Some guys, however get a lot of joy flipping watches on to the next guy. So depends on the person.

I have one wife. I’ll save the diversity for my watch collection. 5 or 6 should be enough.

Congrats on the Daytona. How does Daytona wear in terms of size and comfort compared to your other watches?

Nope. The thought of wearing the same watch every day makes me literally break out in hives.

If I'd been fortunate enough to have inherited a watch from my Dad, I would, of course, cherish it.

I enjoy the research (the hunt) even more than owning. I am a one Rolex watch (one at a time) guy. Maybe add more when I retire.

So far, one is enough. I wanted a sub for MANY years; like half a lifetime. It's crazy but I never thought I would enjoy wearing it as much as I do. Every day.

Last year this time there were some great deals on PM models. Considered a DD in WG or PT. Just because it would be cool. Had to be honest with myself though; would I like it as much as my sub?

Might pick up a cheaper watch for travel if and when I start traveling a lot again. Same story though, so far I like having the sub along. It's a part of me now. Unless I get sent to some third world sketchy place.

That is the reality of the black Daytona ... it truly can be the best single watch collection. And I wouldn’t feel the same about the white Daytona. The black dial makes it so versatile from swim suit to board room suit.

While the Sub has similar qualities in terms of versatility ... it cannot touch the rarity and the “special feeling” the Daytona gives its wearer.

The black Daytona is absolutely my favorite watch!

I was so used to the heavier and thicker watches before the Daytona that when I first put it on it felt small, but since wearing it for the last few months, it’s actually feels like a perfect size for me. My wrist size fluctuates between 7 to 7.25. The Datejust 41 is the closest in size to the Daytona and it still feels a little too big now (not thicker, but wider).

For the longest time I've always just owned one Datejust, as time goes on I dug deeper and deeper and there was no turning back, can't just have one now. I think 4 is ideal for me.
