Tough one. It would depend on the economics of the trade.

As always, my recommendation would be to do what you are pleased with to get the watch you want. Frankly, to ask whether you should do that trade leads me to believe that the Daytona isn't necessarily a watch you have an affinity for, but rather are asking the forum to see if it's worth the trade from a value/popularity perspective, i.e. the Daytona is "better" than the BLRO.

With that out of the way:

1. Economics matter. How much more cash and is the 116500 BNIB? If you are going to be into the Daytona for the BLRO plus a few grand I think it makes sense from a financial perspective as the 116500 black dial is worth around ~$25k new.

2. Regarding bias, I have absolutely no idea why people like the BLRO so much; I'd take a BLNR over it, and in my view the LN is superior. I realize people feel the same way about the Daytona.

3. In line with the quotes above, Daytona > BLRO, all day, everyday. I also do not think that is an opinion, but rather fact. The Daytona is simply legendary, regardless of whether someone doesn't like the lugs, the perceived lack of legibility, or the fact it trades ~2x MSRP.

I have both, and I wouldn’t have traded my Pepsi to get a Daytona if I had found myself in such position. They both fits differently honestly, I will keep my Pepsi+cash and try to add the Daytona. But at the end of it all, the final decision is yours.

I'd keep the Pepsi.
I find Daytona overrated due to "harder to get" status and the premium charged by the resellers.

The GMT has complications that I use......Daytona has a chrono function that I would not touch. It is pure decoration in my case.

I have both and love both ; if I had to choose one it would be the daytona mainly because I have quite a few other GMT variations in my collection including the older reference Pepsi{which I prefer to my BLRO}

Depends on the collection. I let my Pepsi go after 3 years with 2 of those being non use.

I have the BLRO and the white Daytona. I would not do this trade as my BLRO gets way more wrist time. I would save my money and then buy the Daytona hopefully through an AD and if that doesn’t work and you still want it then go grey.

I much prefer the Daytona to the BLRO. I think it is far more elegant and I am not a big fan of colorful watches.

You are replying today to posts made a year ago, when the landscape for BLRO was slightly different, now they are even harder to get and there is a threat of it being discontinued too. Im quite sure the views you have quoted will have changed.

Even worse, the thread is 2 years old

Still and interesting conversation to have I guess.

If it’s a matter of choice of one piece - definitely daytona.

The truth is both are amazing and should be in collection. Would not flip the pepsi to get the daytona

Not a fan whatsoever of the Daytona--too busy, too cluttered, too useless. BLRO is my favorite Rolex model.
I stand with Stan on this one! Go GMT or stay home!

Have both. I wouldn’t do it. The Pepsi is superb and an everyday piece. The Daytona is equally amazing but I’d keep the Pepsi over the Daytona any day of the week.

Also- the Pepsi gets far more compliments on the wrist than my Daytona have ever received. Lots of wrist presence

Going to the Miami F1 sullied the Daytona mystique for me - every other person was wearing one - didn't see a single BLRO.

Unless the Daytona is an absolute grail, I'd keep the GMT.

I second this, honestly don’t know why people like the Daytona so much? Probably caught in the hype or something? Would never choose one over a Pepsi, infact I rather have a DJ over a Daytona.

Daytona over any other Rolex sport model, end of the story imho. More comfortable, more refined, more clout.

Careful if you flip the pepsi you might completely spill everything and dirty your clothes and table.

The BLRO looks like a toy, the daytona looks like a watch. Your choice at the end of the day.
