I also live in one of he lowest cost of living states in the country and have no debt other than my house, which has more equity than debt.

My plan is to pick up something part time or possibly full time if it’s more fun until I’m 60. To help offset the monthly pay I was used to getting at my job.

I turn 57 on Monday and am currently sailing from Cape May to Nantucket. The following week, I’m spending 4 days at Lime Rock.

Life is too short so I have a lot of things to cram in.

A high proportion of former law enforcement and military folk get into security, investigative or intelligence work for financial companies, telcos, insurance or government departments. Trick is to find work that is interesting, but not to much pressure. Perhaps there may be some part time opportunities available.

Retiring at 44 is THE Dream. You did indeed made it.

I wish I will retire at that age as well. Just go travelling mate visit as many countries as you can and see what life is really about.
