I'm still hitting myself for not getting an 1815 Chrono when they were still under the radar. That movement is so stunning, and they were trading at absurd amounts for the amount of watch you got. A lot more became privy to it after the COVID watch boom. Hopefully it settles back down and I'll jump. One of my favorite watches ever.

Agree. Their chrono movement is very nice. I have a Langematik Perpetual, and would like to add an Odysseus and a Zeitwerk Striking Time if they ever downsize the case.

look at how some of these posters are commenting towards the OP. Now granted, precisely today, below MSRP is impossible. but how they're commenting about a SS Rolex to EVER be below MSRP is laughable and mocking him, showcases exactly how down the rabbit hole some of these guys have fallen. A lot, and I mean A LOT of people are in for a very rude awakening and have drank way too much of the 'my watch will always be worth what I paid!' koolaid.

In reality, it's absolute lunacy that a Submariner would ever trade above MSRP when one accounts for how common it is. There's zero rarity whatsoever and production will be continued for years to come.

+1. Hilarious — the “never gonna happen” crew are newbies who don’t remember how recently these watches were sitting around for a ‘let’s make a deal’ with the SA. It was fun to draw them out of the woodwork. That said, as the OP on that thread I still went ahead and bought the green sun because I love it and it’ll pair nice with my ‘papa’ Kermit 16610LV.

I see a lot of buyers are $19k for Daytonas. There’s a $20k mental block that people will start jumping on those for sure.

Which is funny though as so many guys will realize that the Daytona is the most overhyped of all watches ever produced, wears small and super illegible.

Also, I’m loving the guys on MODA saying ‘cheapest price anywhere!’ on listings to just continuously sit. Strap in

I see 2 exceptions:
- On a personal level (even when produced in large quantities): when the date on card has a personal meaning (birth, wedding, etc).
- Out of catalog pieces

For these I accept to buy (and already have) at a premium.

(My theory is that Rolex is waiting the market to cool down before launching very expected models. They did not want to put gas on the fire in W&W2022. And they were right not releasing anything mainstream hot this year.)

I am sure, somewhere hidden in a Rolex safe, updated and larger Daytona prototypes are waiting for the market craziness to continue to cool down. At least they are not alone with the GMT2 coke. ;)

Many rolex anniversaries next year. :)

2023 is Daytona 60th. Wouldn't be surprised at all if we get a revamp in Spring.

Seriously. The amount of posturing is insane. “This should go fast” yet is still sitting 4 days later.

Same thing with relistings et., that I have discussed before.

You can smell the desperation and deceit. All these charlatans will feel the pain. Respect to the very few dealers who say it how it is.

and the thing is....that's not retail market. That IS a dealer chat. Where if you've ever been in dealer chats for any type of good, a *normal* transaction is done within 24hours.

A listing 'going fast' should be gone within a hour. Sitting 2 days on MODA is like sitting 2 months on Chrono24 and is completely outside of a sellable price spectrum, as otherwise another dealer/end user would purchase if within 10-20% and could make an offer.

but the fact still remains, the prices moving downward is entirely NOT a huge deal whatsoever in the grand scheme for a true horologist. If you paid MSRP you were always (relatively) good, and if you paid grey, you should have been financially stable enough that thousands of dollars means nothing to you. As it's pretty wild to overpay on a luxury good if you were strapped for cash or the financials were any type of factor.

PS- I see your signature, I just created a post about the 228238 white roman, got my name down to officially obtain one (hopefully by EOY). Really looking forward to that piece!

It's a dealer chat. If something doesn't move it is 100% price.

Drop your damn price.

Guy reposting his 26500 full gold blue 1999 Sub AGAIN and AGAIN and AGAIN. Wow you marked it as an "f'it" deal and reduced it 500 a week ago.

Nobody wants it buddy. It should be 20-22 at most today.

I desperately want to start sarcastically posting on these things.

"Wow this should go fast!"

"Cheap! Should be an absolute stampede to purchase this clean watch. Great seller!"

We should collectively come up with discreet phrase or emoji to mark these things as trash deals.. without getting banned.

Maybe green stock market emoji line up?

How do you spot fake Meteorite dials. It seems like a thing with a lot of incentive to fake.

And we do see a lot of them on MODA.

Can someone send me listing of a fake one so I can try to compare it side by side to real examples?

This is a great question. What about starting a new thread so it can be found easier as a reference?

Best to avoid buying special or super hyped dial watches that does not come with white tag. No matter what the price is, I wouldn’t buy without the white tag.

Do white tags specify dials?

Honestly many vintage Rolexes aren't that rare either.

I've seen a ton of supposedly rare factory wood dial Rolex DDs come up in recent months.

There are also a lot of factory onyx DDs out there as well.
