That extra $1,250 plus the extra tax is quite the increase, and can't help but think if they had it before the new year and waited... Still it was great to buy from the local AD.

I thought I was so happy with my Tudor BB GMT and Pelagos, but this SD43 is a a different level-- the feel of the metal, the smallest details just feel so right and it screams quality. I'm a little bigger guy and the 43mm is a Goldilocks for me, for my wrist it wears slimmer than either Tudor, and more balanced, its super comfy!

Excited to see how long the honeymoon phase lasts. Thanks for all your posts in this feed, it helped me find "the better Sub" ... the better Sub at least for me.
Congrats

I still don’t understand why this reference doesn’t get more attention. Really is something special.

Fun Fact, do you know the Mark 1 Sea-dwellers 43 get the Small size Box, and the Mark 2 Sea-dwellers 43 get the medium size box?

The AD just shared this with me and this was reflected on the white tags as well.

Interesting that they should bother to change the box for the same watch... copying Omega with their Speedmaster box (although Omega went in the opposite direction)

FWIW, my "MK I" vs. my 16600...

I really love mine (just made a purchase from a grey dealer) and had to send mine in for a movement service. Rolex tech at my AD examined and said the amplitude was low (had some minor timekeeping issues I wanted checked) and recommended it be sent in. I sent it to RUSA, Dallas last week so hopefully it will be resolved w/o too much of a wait. I'll admit I'm a bit disappointed that a brand new SD43 started off this way.

I had to send mine in due to timekeeping when I first got it as well. It came back in 3 weeks, pretty quick turnaround as I was quoted 3-4 months. This was to the Toronto RSC. By sending it in, aside from timekeeping, it further verifies that the watch is legit so 2 birds one stone!

Mine was purchased from an AD about a month ago, so far it's the most accurate in my collection. (fingers crossed)

What was your timekeeping issue? Was it resolved? How is it running now? RUSA Dallas told me 4-6 weeks minimum, but my understanding is that they try to expedite warranty work.

Well you are in a club with many sending your sd43 for service. Watch went slow I am guessing. The new movement in this and DSSD and a few others I think. My sd43 from 2017 has been in once in 2019 and is about to go back a second time before warranty expires. Slow again. Yes it is disappointing but I sure hope they have a permanent fix by now.

Mine has been in three times, twice for timekeeping and once for the date not ticking over at midnight.

The AD told me that they changed the lubricant on the watch so that should be the fix.

Rolex hasn’t figured out the correct lubricant after all these years as a watchmaker?

Let’s not go there.

My dads 45 year old omega speedmaster mark IV keeps better time than my 10k SD43

It is a bit disappointing to hear of these issues. I don't understand it - my Deep Sea JC kept perfect time - around 1/2 to 1 second fast per day regardless of position, with the exact same movement as my SD43 as I understand. Both my Omega PO and SMP 300 are very consistent and well within the METAS tolerances. I get that these are mechanical devices and no two will work and keep time exactly the same way, even under identical wearing conditions. All I ask is that it functions according to its advertised specs.....a Rolex tech examined mine and actually recommended it be sent to RUSA so I saw no reason to delay especially since its under warranty. I just hope this solves the issue.

I am almost 100% that the new DSSD 126660 has same movement as sd43. The older DSSD 116660 has older movement. Nevertheless even if you have newer model with new movement this does not mean you would have an issue. It seems random and I would certainly guess that most will never have a problem.

I didn't know there was an issue with the 3235...

Mine "was" the most accurate watch in my humble collection for roughly the first three years (May '18 ~ May ~21) but I admit it's slowed down a bit this past year (and I hate slow watches, no matter how minor). I measured it recently on my cheesy $100-ish Timegrapher and got:
-1 DU
+0 DD
-2 CU
-4 CD
-6 CL
-3 CR
When I'm not wearing it, it's usually in a CU position overnight so as you can see, I need to re-set it every other week.
It's not bad enough that I'm prepared to risk sending it in and prefer to wait 'till it's due for a full service.

What kind of timings (even eyeball estimates) did those of you have when you decided to send it in?

Picked up my SD43 about a month ago. Long story short, it was a debate between this and the Sub Date..

I ended up choosing the Sub due to being a few grand cheaper. Fast forward one week, buyers remorse and traded up for the SD43 :D

Added the Pelagos LHD a couple weeks later and the Batman yesterday.

Absolutely LOVE the SD43 and LHD. I thought I would have had the same feeling for the Batman but doesn't appear it will happen :(.

I will wear it a bit more and maybe toss a rubber strap on to change it up but I think it is missing the bulkiness and width I love with the SD43 and Pelagos.

Maybe 40mm just aren't for me..

We shall see!!

My son drove me 40 miles to pick mine up over the Pennines, while I was teaching him how to drive in his old school Mini Cooper a few years back.
Hairy drive!

For me, each time I had to send in to RSC there was no question….the watches were slow by 45s/day or even greater. Also it was not a slow progression of getting slower in timekeeping. It was almost an overnight change.
