I vote to take a break from this board.
Nothing personal. I should probably thank you. Between endless and redundant "incomings" and "should I buy this one or that one, " Or, "I have a ding on my Sub, what should I do?" "Live with it. Fix it. Live with it." Somebody change the station! Not seeing a lot of value. WatchUSeek has far more depth to the conversations and knowledge exchange. Omega Forum, same thing. More interesting. More variety of topics. Ben |

I'm a detail nerd so my favorite topics are about watch details and changes in design and engineering. A watch becoming .3mm thinner is a big deal to me. |

Conversely, a thread can also reveal a lot about the original poster as well. I recall a recent thread where it was important for you to mention that you were “thoroughly vetted” by your AD in order to get your bluesy and that you bypassed “hundreds of VIPs”, despite tt watches being easier to acquire. Apologies if I’m wrong, but it does seem that you’re seeking validation or confirmation that your watch is somehow more special than others.

https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=766304 The spirit of that thread was to demonstrate that ANYONE can walk in and get a new Submariner without having $50,000 in spending history. Others can now read and enjoy the thread for themselves. |

It's just a new watch, does it matter that much. I haven't seen this type of carnivorism of inverse criticism in any other field. Even in the Omega section you don't see the new or older model fans create drama and division with new or older PO and Seamaster models. There is a huge difference in informative journalism, and social media clickbait just to drum up views based solely on a divisive issue. I voted but didn't watch the video as I have already formed my opinion on my own. MISTAKE is a strong word, I don't think based on Rolex's operation model and success, that it was a mistake. Far from it, market values would also say the same. And I prefer the new one if the choice between two in my hand needed to be made, but it's not because of the prior's wider lugs. |

IMO the 114060 will go down as one of the great Submariners. Strongest Rolex tool design a true design classic.

Watched all the way through that tedious and somewhat annoying definitive comparison only to be left waiting for all of the comparison measurements for all of the watches shown -- lug to lug, overall thickness, crown guards, etc. Big missed opportunity to measure every dimension in every Sub from 5-digit to current.
And no mention whatsoever of moving from the Supercase to the Superclasp? I mean, the clasp for me has a fairly significant impact on how a watch wears and we have a totally new clasp. I thought I saw that the new clasp is longer, wider and thicker than the prior Glidelock? Over the SubC40's 3 non-removable 6 o'clock links "the bracelet taper is really aggressive" resulting in the "heft of the Submariner is going to overtake that of the bracelet." And yet the same bracelet taper on the Sub41 is "not aggressive." Seems like a conclusion in search of supporting... evidence, errr, opinion. Quote:

Because it is more elegant doesn't mean it is better looking, especially speaking about a tool watch.

Not that I would ever polish my watch. But if I needed to the supercases give you more material to play with.

I like and own both. Honestly the difference from a foot or two away is negligible, but on the wrist the 124060 wears slimmer imo, ymmv.

Had the 114060, loved it, but after the 12 bluesy I traded up to the 124060.

I wouldn't call it a mistake, not my favorite case but not a mistake. I wouldn't turn down a 114060 or a 116610 LV.

Supercase
I think that the newest version is the best yet, next to the SD43. The 'Supercase' was not so super.

I've owned 4,5, and 6 digit Subs. They are all great for their own reasons. You can't go wrong with any Submariner imho.

Can someone explain to me how he measures around 40mm for the case and 30mm for the dial, but concludes the difference is the bezel size of 5mm? I'm probably being dim here but I found that really confusing

I just got my 41mm in...I like the look of the new one more proportionally, though the supercase with the thinner bracelet wears a little (super minimally) more comfortable with the thinner bracelet but end of the day Im selling my 40 as I don't need two such similar models for the tool watch it is for me. You aren't going wrong either way!

“The Supercase was a mistake!”
The new one is just incrementally better. Wears a touch better and legibility a bit more crisp. The slimmer lugs and smaller crown guards work better with straps. Little improvements on the apex predator of luxury dive watches. Whichever one you have, bet you love it and stoked to wear it

I probably won’t own a Supercase era watch, but I don’t begrudge those who like them. It’s kinda nice that the Sub has manifested in different forms...a shape for everyone.

Not sure if it was a mistake. Maybe it was more of a slow transition. Had Rolex rolled out with a 41mm sub 10 years ago the world may have fell apart
