If I could have it on my wrist tomorrow for MSRP, then yes I would agree with you. That’s not the case. We are going to have to agree to disagree.

Yes because it’s in short supply. Simply supply and demand. Moving on.

Using that logic, the Le Mans Daytona isn’t rare either, so long as you can afford it.

Exactly. “Having tomorrow” is not a good measure of rarity.

Just a data point but I was in my AD the other day, they had a SS white face Daytona in hand going out that day. I took a look since I had not seen the new 12 in white. Asked about the BLRO's, they said they have been really limited as incomings to the store. They had no answers on why.

Enough with the semantics. Let’s talk instead how I got existential ennui when I got my GRNR.

AD’s are telling me that they can get a steel Daytona faster than a Pepsi

You can buy an original Van Gough, too. They’re frequently up for auction at Sotheby’s. There is no scarcity. Anyone can get one.

To be clear, I would never put a BLRO in the same category as a Van Gough, but that’s basically what you’re saying.

Well you kind of just did…

And just because the supply chain is such that most inventory ends up on the used market for substantial premiums where most buyers cannot afford does not make it rare. It makes it unaffordable.

But yeah back to comparing a mass produced Rolex to a Van Gough, Picasso….

Is the Le Mans Daytona mass produced ? Or was it positioned differently within the market?

Well, the topic of this thread was Daytona vs BLRO availability at an AD. So throwing grey market availability into the mix isn’t relevant anyway. Getting one at an AD is a rare event relative to the demand for the watch.

But “used” is not what the folks want. They want a brand new one at an AD.

Either way, it’s all good.

I see some BLRO’s out and about. I see way more steel Daytonas. I see enough of them that they seem somewhat common.

Second that. Just today I saw two SS Daytonas and one TT while no GMT let alone BLRO

Has anyone ever tried selling their BLRO to a grey dealer?

Be interesting to learn what the market value really is, as opposed to what they try to sell them for.

All grey market watches originated from Rolex AD’s. Every last one of them. That’s how the distribution channels work. So, no the BLRO is not rare. It’s a mass produced watch.

Tough to get data across ADs to really know if there are more or less Pepsis

No one really knows. Hopefully soon they’ll release a GMT book and we will know the exact number of Pepsis produced.

Not surprised. I see Daytonas quite frequently but yet to see another Pepsi in the wild than mine

I’m hearing the same when asking around. Probably something to do with pepsi bezel production issues.
