Truthfully, I was so impressed by the 5178, the sound and the dial, that I put in a request to change my application. I had put in a request to add the 5178 prior to actually seeing it but officially Patek won’t allow two accepted Minute Repeater orders at the same time. So I made the difficult choice and decided I didn’t want to run the risk of missing out on the 5178. The 5207 might still follow.

One thing I'd say for anyone heading to Geneva in regards to the museum itself is if you have the opportunity to schedule the private walking tour and guide for it, I would highly recommend it, I think it can be done via email from Patek.com
Did it summer 2022, brought my father with me, and we had such an awesome time with a very lovely lady who walked us through the history of Geneva and Patek from the bridge and clock in the lake through the city itself leading to the museum, then 2 hours I think together in the museum The museum is very overwhelming with such rare and historical timepieces that if we didn't have the guide, more than half the time we would've had no idea what we were looking at nor the significance.. |

may I inquire what is the current CHF of 5178G I can't decide when I saw online, as to if I like the "swirl" pattern. |

Application for Minute Repeater

Qualifying is the better way, but they’re almost always available on the open market, too. I was offered the 5531R at 1.5. |

Michael, thanks so much for taking us all on this very interesting journey. There are many of us who have no idea what the actual administrative processes are involved in being able to make these rare kinds of purchases. It’s fascinating that there’s a certain amount of information that you have to acquire and validate and test before it seems reliable. In some ways, it makes it kind of fun. One big learning for me was the realization that there is a set number of pieces that a person is expected to acquire. I already had expected that there would be restrictions on making quick re-sales.
Best of luck to you! |

I'm also learning along the way and sharing what I have picked up. Agreed that it has been fun when acquiring and validating new info. I just visited the Salon and Roberto shared with me the latest price below: 5178G - CHF 430k 5531G - CHF 580k 5316/50P - CHF 830k The mythical 5th room has a great view of the Geneva lake. Thanks Roberto for being a wonderful host and describing and showing me the 5178, 5316, 5531 and 5303. |

By the way the Museum is a great place to visit! Since 3 months ago they allow visitors to take pictures and I have snapped a few during my visit today. It's quite crowded for a warm Tuesday afternoon.

If you go to the VR tour released yesterday of the Tokyo Watch Art exhibition and then to the Supercomplications and Master of Sound rooms you can listen to a number of MR watches. The site is a bit difficult to navigate but with some trial and error one can visit the rooms.

The price for the 5178G should be CHF 420k. I am surprised that you were quoted CHF 430k (it is true though that the difference is not huge). |

An update:
I decided not to proceed with the Patek's minute repeater but instead going for a 3-hander from an independent which retails 10-20% more than the MR. My friends told me that was an insane decision (cathedral gongs vs 3-hander) and I will regret in time to come. My heart overrides my head this instance. Sorry for creating this thread and then not going ahead. I will share more details of said watch closer to the delivery date. |

Oh sweet Jesus. A 3 hander at 20% over a PP MR. Good lord.

Bummer was hoping for an update but congrats on making a decision that makes your heart jump. Is it a Roger W Smith ? I’m sure a Patek MR will come regardless tbh just a feeling I have ;) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Without spoiling the surprise of the independent you will be getting, can you let us know if there with issues with the Patek MR application process that put you off? Were you told you wouldn't get one? Thanks.
